One of her very best stories I think. The slowly rising unease turning to fear is masterfully done.

Oh. But it is their property, they stay at their cottage and mind their own business and the locals get some extra business the longer they stay. So the locals killing them seems ridiculous. If they didn't want them there why would they mess with their car? That only makes it so they have to stay. Their kids would eventually show up looking for them.

I love the conversational tone. As someone from a small tourism town that gets flooded with city people come summer and Christmas I find the story a bit funny really with the whole "nope. Can't deliver it. No money in it. You gotta do it yourself." Attitude of the townspeople

Such a curious story. The tension slowly building but to what . It's like a conspiracy against them from the whole village. Like they are not wanted after labor Day.

Yes, it's obvious that the locals prefer them to leave for some reason. Murdering them for staying longer on their own property seems ridiculous. The locals do get extra business that they would not get otherwise the longer they stay. Their kids would come looking for them, so idk how the town could get away with killing them. Odd...

Ambiguous endings always send the newbs into fits. Much like real life, sometimes we dont get answers and our imaginations are left to run wild. If you want everything spelled out for you, try one of those formulaic suspense mystery novels like James Patterson or something

This story kind of frustrates me. I can only say that the locals all seem to want them gone for some reason. But why do they care if they stay longer on their own property? The people get more business the longer they stay. It sounds like they stay at their place and mind their own business so what does it matter if they stay? The locals killing them seems ridiculous for many reasons. Their kids know where they are and would eventually come and see why they weren't hearing from them. Hmm...
@marsbeads Жыл бұрын
It's a horror story. It's about the slow realization of what's happening. We don't know if the town's people are going to kill the Allisons, that's left open. The story is about the realization of their doom, however it may happen.
