We had this song sung today at the Basilica Cathedral of St Augustine Florida. We had our Rite of Election and I am in process of becoming Catholic. Will be baptized and confirmed this Easter during the Easter Vigil. I have been summoned and answered God's call. I will follow Him. I will see things and people much differently thru the way God wants me to be. My life will never be the same. Not with God and Jesus in charge

I heard this song twenty years ago. I was in deep trouble. I returned to church and worked as Sexton, a month later the revron ask if I had a pass port, I said yes. I got the pass port four years prior and used that once. She sent me Honduras to help build a church , and soccer field at the lamb institute orphanage. I was never the same. Blessings.

Hi Kaitlyn, The hymn is really beautiful indeed. It was written by a Scottish Minister Rev. John Bell, who belonged to the Church of Scotland (of the Calvinist Presbyterian reformed tradition). He was not Catholic.

Songs are such a powerful way for God to speak to us and us to Him. Prayer is a conversation between us and God... that means more than just us sending up requests to Him for Him to 'fix' things, but to BE IN RELATIONSHIP with Him. Conversation is being quiet and letting Him speak now and then... sometimes that is best done in the still quiet of silence... sometimes it is in the quiet reading of His Word... and sometimes it is in songs such as this.

Very comforting as it sets me searching my heart! I recall experiences during my RCIA preparation period, and believe I definitely had a call to holiness! I feel exactly the same, there is two of us then ;) but lets don't give up on this world, it's a Gods will we have to live here, and do good, and show others it is possible. HE did so much for me and my family recently, I just want to thank Him, I pray whenever I can, and offer my day for Him. It is possible to bring a real change through praying, even if we cannot see it yet. Not even a little pray goes nowhere, that's what I believe. Jesus I trust in You.
