Love Brandon Sanderson! It would be cool seeing you two in a colab video just talking about your favorite books, writing, and living in Utah!

Not my favorite of the "secret projects" (the first and third ones are my favs), but i still liked it and I'm glad you liked it too. Also i think this cover looks so much better than the cover of the Kickstarter version.

My only problem with the book was that it kept making tantalizing references to Stormlight 5 without actually mentioning the actual events of SA5. This makes sense in terms of not spoiling the book, but it doesn’t make sense in terms of how Nomad’s typical thought process should go. It feels as if this book should be read AFTER SA5, because without reading it half the references in the book makes no sense because it’s referencing SA5 as if we should have read it already. I think that my enjoyment of Sunlit will skyrocket when I reread it after SA5.

Hmm, I gotta figure out why I'm getting so much echo on Brian's videos now. Just recently got a new sound system, so I'm sure that the problem isn't coincidental, but so far this is the only channel I'm experiencing this with. Open to suggestions. ;)

Hmm, I didn't know it was like traditional scifi (a Cosmere novel?). I would expect a Gollancz-Alastair Reynolds like spaceship on the cover. Now you're tempting me. And so much shorter than Stormlight Archive. You might try Sanderson's YA Skyward scifi books; at least there's some fun ship diagrams in the back.

Shameless name dropping. 😁 I once had lunch in a town where Abe Lincoln sent his laundry. So there.🤭

Hello I reached you randomly and click some of your videos and I really enjoy. Personally I am a book lover. I really like your content about books. But one thing I noticed is that your speaking style is similar to that of many great content creators. But you are not reaching your audience accordingly. May be I can help you to give some suggestions about growing your youtube channel! thanks😊

As someone who gravitates more to ScienceFiction than to Fantasy, I haven't read anything from Brandon Sanderson yet, but I think this book might be a good entry point for me. Do I have to read the other Cosmere books to understand this, or can I read it as a standalone with no knowledge of the universe whatsoever?

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT read this book as your entry into the Cosmere. You won’t have a clue what is going on. This book is probably the most heavily aware Cosmere novel Brandon has written. There are CONSTANT references to other series and events that’s you won’t know about, and pretty much every detail in the book takes for granted that you should know some of the underlying science of the Cosmere already. Imo this book should be read after reading Stormlight, preferably after reading SA5 once it comes out.

While I think it’s absolutely possible to read this as first it is absolutely not a good place to start. I think it would make you confused and might like the book considerably less. But if you want to read it just for aesthetics and vibes yes it has some fun science fantasy plot and world building. It does take place in a new place and has a self contained story of sorts. It depends what experience you want from it.
