As a rock climber, I can't imagine how someone can trust Ice so much. I sometimes don't even trust rock that's been there for millenia..

At least if the ice is good you are not very likely to fall. The rock can be great and you'll still fall.

@@donalddarko3676 I’m completely new to climbing and I want to learn. Why is it less likely you will fall while ice climbing? Is it easier/less exhausting to hold your bodyweight using ice tools? I’m curious.

@@jopvandam6820 The easiest holds to hold onto in rock climbing are "jugs" (they're shaped like a handle), and ice tools have handles. Very occasionally you might come across a hold in mixed climbing (ice and rock on the same route) that requires a hand instead of a tool, but it probably won't be the crux (most difficult part of the route). Also, falling during roped ice climbing is far more dangerous because you have pointy things everywhere (snagging a crampon and breaking an ankle is not unheard of), and you place ice screws less frequently than trad gear. So ice climbers tend to climb closer to their comfort zone to mitigate that risk.
