Wow I’m really glad the YT Algorithm showed me your channel. This is an incredible design. As an engineer and detail-oriented person, I want to build this today ! But as a woodworking beginner, I hope to get to a level soon where I can tackle building your jig. I’ll buy those plans now for when I’m ready. Thanks again! -SJ

As an engineer myself, I’m blown away with this. It’s even better than the similar machine Mathias Wandel has produced. I’ll keep watching.
@CarmoniusFinsnickeri

Thanks Paul, it started out inspired by Mathias jig and my first version 5-6 years ago was with gears and standard threaded rod, same overall layout as today though with the linear rails and open carriage with clamping tracks. Last year I rebuilt the jig using the ball screw and the numbered control wheel which was a major step up in ease of use over my early geared version. I very much prefer to work with real numbers over positions on a wheel and the numbered control wheel also opened up possibilities to cut many other joints than just standard boxjoints. The template system introduced at the same also improved the usability a lot.

This is the first time I have seen one of your videos. I think you are a bit too humble. Not only are you a great woodworker, but you are an even better engineer. I am able to create aesthetically pleasing pieces. But your affinity for math surpasses most of your viewers ability to understand the math calculations that went into this incredibly amazing jig. I can’t even begin to understand how it works.
@CarmoniusFinsnickeri

Thanks! The math is actually very simple, I use only one formula for these joints and it's learned in 5 minutes. It's described in the first of the instruction videos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rn_OXpV6eb2rnpY

Thank you! Both for your comment and for watching all the videos. It takes a few sample joints to realize how good this jig is, but people who seen it live or watched all the videos as you did tend to agree with "the worlds best" statement.

@@CarmoniusFinsnickeri Not only have I watched the videos but I understand the technical aspects (after analysis) of the whole system and am most impressed. The fitment of the joints is unbelievable. @@michaelcoceski5442 Sorry to hear about your health issues. Thanks again for understanding the jig completely, I think this system is quite simple but it's difficult to describe this jig in 1 minute which is what many viewers spend on a video before clicking on next one.

@@CarmoniusFinsnickeri Actually you did a superb presentation in my opinion. I have only praise (and respect) for you. Woodworking has been my lifelong hobby and as such have seen a lot of creative ideas. Mathias W. was the first to impress me but I rate yours as the best ever.

@@michaelcoceski5442 Thanks again, really glad to hear your opinion about the jig and presentation. I'm well aware of Mathias jig and it was (is) a great invention at a low build cost. The hardware for mine is more expensive but it's also a better more versatile and user friendly jig.

@CarmoniusFinsnickeri
@CarmoniusFinsnickeri 6 ай бұрын
Thanks! My first iteration of this jig had the linear rails and layout as this one but was controlled using standard threaded rod and gear wheels similar to Wandels jig. I didn't use it that often and had to start over every time and have a recap on the different gear options and so on. It was a huge improvement to switch to the ball screw and this numerical control wheel. It speeded up the process of setting up cuts, improved accuracy and fine tuning options and made the jig more versatile to cut other things than plain boxjoints. At that time I also introduced the template system which made it much more user friendly.

Very good Carmonius, very good. I prefer my sliding action, it was the idea of a lead-screw that I was trying to get away from. But nevertheless very excellent, and your photography is better than mine. Shall we agree that we both have, in different ways, the best tablesaw jig in the world? :)

Incredible jig. What a great idea to use a ball screw. Now I am already thinking of scavenging one from my 3d printer and try to control it with a stepper … imagine the possibilities, cncing your table saw
@CarmoniusFinsnickeri
@CarmoniusFinsnickeri Жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's been discussed before to add a stepper motor. Personally I'm quicker with my fully analogue system if it's smaller series run like I usually do. It's really super quick to set the pins and start cutting. For someone into cnc and programming a stepper might be quick to set up for a cut, but I think for the avarage woodworker this analogue system is more simple to handle.
@Krmpfpks
