I fully maintain that Ultimates vol. 1 & 2's success is more due to Bryan Hitch's artwork than Millar's writing. Hitch's pencils redefined how superhero comics are drawn now, for good and ill.

I've always imagined a premise of an Oceans 11 heist movie would work incredibly well for a team of supervillains in the DC Universe called The Rogue's, who are a team of incredibly underrated Flash villains such as Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Heatwave, Weather Wizard etc... all of which have a moral code of ethics and are villains with not much adaptions and are rich with storytelling potential much like this show does.

I've seen people have arguments against "comic accurate adaptations" cause they say "If I want to read the story from the comic I would just read the comic" or "if they would do 1:1 adaptation, it would just felt like water down attempt". And while it could be the case in some cases (Killing Joke the animated movie is the biggest offender), I think it ignores benefits o the "more accurate adaptations". One is the fact it IS a different medium, so it's already a different experience than watching a comic, but also how Xavier explained with Supercrooks, you can use adaptation to expend on the source material in areas that the original story didn't. That's what Invincible also did. Not to mention most of those adaptations are targeting to people that don't read comics and likely have no intrest in doing that. I'm not against adaptations that reinterpretations the source material, cause I'm all for getting a new stories that takes inspirations from the comic, while also I think with Marvel and DC at least having truly accurate translation would have been almost impossible, since many of their most popular stories depend on the fact it's based decades long history of the character, that most adaptations will never be capable of incorporate even 1/5 of it, and also the fact you do have to streamline some stuff for the sake of working in a new media. However, the fact it's the most prominent style of adaptation they made in the west, I think makes it a key factor why people think what adaptations should be. And yes, I'm also starting to get tired how everything has to be "one's vision". Sometime's it's a personal work of someone that loves the source material, other times it's just disregarding the source material altogether and do something unrecognisable. Ironically, the 1:1 adaptions that wests do is usually with the books, but maybe argument there is that comics are much "visual media" than books, idk.

It was nice but the plot just kept on moving for example the first ep it went from being super serious like 20 kids got boiled alived in a pool to pg 13 “we don’t kill” saying that to the old man with volcano guns who just killed three ninja dudes. Also halfway through the story Johhny just becomes a side character and barley uses he power except to light a cigarette a few times. And don’t get me started on the last episode it felt completely rushed with the bastard still being alive and we don’t even get to see the aftermath of the Pretorian, his entire character carried the shoe

Part of the issue with "faithful" adaptations of superhero comics is that there's like there can be a million different versions of a character like Spiderman or Batman in the comics, or like the same version gets some inconsistent writing between different writer's runs, or in spiderman's case, the story is forced to match the new movies because brand synergy or something. And of course, there's also a whole bunch of adaptations of the big characters, so if it a faithful adaptation has been done once, do people really want to see it again? And the big advantage that manga adaptations have over superhero comics is that manga generally don't have a million different versions of a story/characters, so it's way easier to both get into them and choose what to adapt. And of course, manga generally gets to end, and not have to go on forever and ever. With the super long running stuff like One Piece being more the exception. And granted, its not like they don't get cut short like how some superhero stuff do ( because of having to setup crossover shit, or the obligatory reboot ), because sometimes they do get cut short and might have to give the story and abrupt and unsatisfying end like with Hunter's Guild Red Hood. And even anime reboots tend to be the exception, like with Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and Hunter X Hunter 2011, both being more faithful adaptations of the source material compared to their first adaptations. Also I say superhero comics instead of western comics because chuds always really mean them when saying manga good, western comic bad. Because it's always panels from Marvel/DC rather than non-superhero comics like Bone or Monster Allergy.

I think the reason why we don’t see one to one and animations of comic books is because of the differences between them. Usually manga is one long story but with comics there are multiple book of the same characters multiple writers that come in and out. On top of that people who watch an anime and want to know more will likely buy the manga. But as we have seen with comic book movies, they don’t seem to have that same effect. So I think companies are afraid of doing animations because they with it will replace the books and hurt book sales. That’s just my guess

@@izuto727 Not always the best idea, most super-heroes have changed drastically since their debut, being passed down through a lot of writers, through generations, being slowly molded into what we currently know them as. Take Peter Parker for example, his characterization throughout each decade changed A LOT, Peter on the original run by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko is a completely different character from today's Peter, and I'm not even talking about Zeb Well's Peter. Not only the character changed but the way comics were written and were presented changed a lot too, a faithful adaptation of those early comics would completely clash with pretty much everyone.

To use a comparison brought up in the video, the Ocean's 11 movies don't feature dudes getting chopped up or heads exploding, and it only seems more incongruous to me when they're all superheroes(or villains, as it were). I'd understand if it was horror themed(the regenerating guys reminded me of a fight in the horror themed Bakemonogatari franchise - look up Araragi vs Kiss Shot for a really awesome and funny fight between two regenerating characters), but I gotta wonder what the crossover audience is for people who like silly colorful supervillain heists and also like extreme gore in them.
