Client was late today so had time to quickly shoot a mag through my carry gun and competition gun to check the grip.
Video is a great tool to analyze and slow down to spot any inefficiencies or bad habits creeping back in.
How much muzzle movement is there? Am I trapping the bore axis with as efficient grip as possible? Is my firing thumb relaxed, or bent and tense (a habit I need to break).
Scott gave me a lot to think about and continuously work on with my grip.
All the great mentors @modern_samurai_project @timherronshooting @myowndefender @jarrod_rw have taught me the importance of self analysis and self exploration.
Periodically re-examining everything I think I know and testing and reapplying the knowledge...
So important for continuous development and not getting stagnant and complacent.

Nope, not the whole story. What tells more of the story is how consistent and repeatable are the results on target.

Scott will tell you Bore Axis is a bullshit myth. A P320 has the same high bore axis as a 1911. Just apply pinky pressure with the support hand and recoil will be significantly reduced.

Interesting...I took Jedi's instructor course and bore axis was something he stressed a lot as far as getting the support hand as high up on the frame as possible. I'll run by what you said with him.

is your support hand thumb actually touching the slide or just floating above?

Both of my thumbs are on the slide. It's a common myth that you can't put your thumbs on the slide -- if the support hand needs to get as high up on the grip as possible to be most effective, then of course the thumbs will be on the slide -- thumbs don't do anything for the grip...they just hang out...so there's no sense letting them take up valuable real estate on the grip. Does that answer your answer?
