Then on the third the anesthetist did their job properly [unlike the previous 2] and cancelled the op. There are some drugs that interact with epidurals and you don't do the op. You end up parallysed. As soon as he walked into the see the Chief Executive, they made the offer to pay to go private.

I know of someone with a hereditary heart condition, whose father died suddenly without warning at a young age. In her forties she one day found herself literally bereft of the strength to keep walking and she sensed she might be about to experience an episode similar to the one which killed her father. She sought medical advice via a local NHS doctor and was put on a TWO YEAR waiting list with a potentially lethal heart condition. Having lived in this country and paid into the system all her life she still finished up having to pay for her own life saving heart op, imagine that eh! This wasn't in the post COVID eternal crisis, this was about twenty years ago!!! I hate to think how long the waiting list might be now.

I had a relatively minor procedure on the NHS 30 years ago that the surgeon botched, leaving me with unsightly scarring. Over the years I've approached GP after GP to get a (relatively simple) corrective procedure, and each time I've been knocked back. "That's cosmetic surgery," they say, "we don't do that." It didn't matter how much I explained it affected my self-esteem, or had an adverse impact on my relationships - all they were willing to offer was "talking therapy". After years of searching, I've recently managed to find an affordable, fully accredited private clinic to deal with it once and for all. The fact I have to pay to correct poor treatment leaves an extremely sour taste in the mouth.

Shangeeth Sathyanathan, now aged 20, of Brettell Lane, Brierley Hill, had been driving an Audi A5 on the wrong side of the road in Birmingham when the fatal collision happened in August last year. We live in a post-modernist world where nothing is better, or more valuable, or more sensible than anything else. We are seeing this philosophy carried out before our eyes. At this point, everyone should realize that a civilization cannot exist with post-modernism as its foundation. We must drown post-modernism in the bathtub or our society collapses. Not much time left.

The most insane part is that this wealthy man decided to have the third operation on the cheap by going abroad, where it was botched - and the gist of his claim is that the bungled op leaving him in pain is the fault of the NHS as they somehow 'forced' him to have it done by bunglers. No mention by him of why he didn't just pay a bit more and have the madness done by a competent private UK surgeon.

Why do the centre right or populist right talk about the Lucy Letby case? Why don't the left guardian talk about it?
@FredScuttle45625 күн бұрын
Perhaps Letby was just a patsy, to prevent the NHS being blamed for its failings. Same as the Post Office, blaming sub postmasters for its failings.
@alunhuang-wright303025 күн бұрын
Maybe because people have reservations when people are not only convicted but also pilloried, for an alleged crime. I watched the reporting of this case, (some of it at least). I was never convinced beyond doubt. And now we have an expert witness changing their opinion on three of the deaths.
@voltairedentotalenkrieg514725 күн бұрын
@alunhuang-wright3030 100% but why are only the center right and populist right covering it, why not the left wing outlets? It's part of the cultural war, but I don't understand why other than she's white.

I enjoyed the "Lord Nelson" analogy. However, it is a perfect illustration of how insane all this business actually is. As Simon says, the issues that plague such people are psychological, not medical. We have seen around, I'd say, 10-15 years of this stuff in our news and legislation being passed, along with all the other changes to our lives, to accommodate less than 1% of the population. It must be time, especially in view of this potential Court case, to cast off all the fantasy that surrounds this phenomenon, finally see that the "Emperor" is indeed naked - then tell everyone very loudly and publicly, that he is.

At the heart of the problem is a national health system where some users, for various reasons never pay one penny towards the health system but receiive the same care as somebody who pays thousands of pounds in NIC. I know I sound idealistic but a good health system should also be a fair system.
@79joddy24 күн бұрын
Sadly, none of this surprised me. I just wonder what else the taxpayer is forking out for. I have long suspected the NHS is being run into the ground. Watch as it is sold of to the highest bidder and you have to pay a fortune in health insurance. If you need an operation you will probably need to pay out a loan.
@mikedee177125 күн бұрын
I don't if it still happens but I've heard of breast enlargements being carried out for free on the NHS. That would be be fine if the NHS had limitless resources but people are suffering waiting for hip replacements etc.

This is why l hate universal health care. Some u n forunate person who work and has paid into the system for an eternity has too wait 6 moths or more for a scan scan and the wait period for the scan might be cancerous so he has a less likely chance of being cured. Or l now how long my Au t had to wait to see an ENT . But mo ey seems always plentiful for people like this, a psychiatrist is what they need not a surgeon. If they want to have this sorg of surgery then let them pay for the entire thing privately.
