Another fantastic video, and the photos are just as fascinating. I'll always remember seeing a very similar car on an afternoon check out pass at Lions in '67. I was already starting to draw pictures so I was paying attention: Possibly the Garden Grove crew: Medium '65 era "rail" wheelbase, blue stripes on the short body, Hilborn injector, visor on the driver's helmet. Maybe the same car as in a night-at-Lions picture Engle ad in a late '66 HR that my father had? The top fueler is smoking right past the original Lions and preceeding Torco signs. I'll always remember that night picture of the dragster in the magazine ad because I had just seen (and heard) the real thing at night at Lions for the first of 3 years. At the '66 Winternationals photo the car in the background at 11:52 is the B&M/Prudhomme/Zeuschel /Torkmaster? It's partly the red beak and the Z-motor-sized idler pulley on the '92.

Joe Moore Great reflections, Joe. You see how deep and detailed this stuff is in you? Better save up and build a cackle car of your own. They are the lightning rod- the touch stone if-you-will that brings us all together. The young man in you was lit a fire by those cars, years ago. Here are a couple of movies that will bring it even more into focus. “Field of Dreams” and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. Watch those again with this stuff in mind and you might see a future path. I dunno... Us guys tend to follow our brains and not our hearts. Follow your heart on this one. It’s “the road less travelled”, but it can make all the difference. Thanks for the reflections, Joe. Bill

I spent most of my time in school drawing top fuel dragsters ! I was a huge Ford fan ( and still am ) , and would draw Kalitta's car , Pete Robinson's and Prudhomme's cars . But I love them all ! Thanks millions for all these episodes @@vintagedragsters!!!

Is Tommy Allen any relation to Jeb Allen who came along later?
