The difference is most people who get hired for commercials are just actors. Blair would be viewed more like a celebrity endorser because she already has a huge following and so she probably gets paid more for her roles than most would.

People find out where you live because your property records are public. All you need to know is someone's county anywhere in the country and you can figure out where they live. What you need to do is call your county tax accessor and ask them to have your names stricken from the record. The process is slightly different for every county/state, but seriously if you are worried enough about your privacy to not show the view from your windows then you need to hire a consultant for this kind of stuff.

It really sucks that a certain few crazy people have to ruin house tours and fun stuff for the rest of us. I hate this "fangirl" or "fanboy" insanity that has overcome any celebrity type person within the past few years. It's making their lives more difficult and they aren't able to show their true fans things that they would like to share. I miss the early days of KZbin before all that insanity happened. You could do a mini house tour when you have blinds with the blinds down so people cant see the view but we can still see how you decorated and it could mostly be focused on the decor. (Or do that as a blog post.). I think the main thing most sane people want to see is how its been decorated so if you did something that was just on the decor aspect that could work as a great compromise. I totally understand though, even as a normal person privacy can be an issue so I can't even imagine when your life is on the internet. That would just be crazy.

As long as you don't vlog the outside of the house no one is going to be able to figure it out. The only reason people can figure out where apartments are is because pictures of apartments and condos are posted online to advertise and get people to buy. Unless your house and it's floor plan is being advertised somewhere online then no is going to find it. Just my two cents.

Congratulations on the house! That is a huge life event and I'm so happy you're getting to experience it with the person you're going to make it into a home with. Quick question if Elle or anybody knows...when you own and invest thousands and thousands of dollars to redecorate and reconstruct if your not required to change it all back (or are you?) (for instance all the chandeliers installed requiring reworking of electrical systems etc) then when you sell do you lose that money invested or are you allowed to add that exact amount onto the asking price for the condo? It kind of interested me because what if someone looking to buy doesn't have the same taste or doesn't like the changes? Is it more difficult to sell or easier? Will you take anything you installed in condo and take to the new home like kitchen mother of Pearl back splashes or the beautiful column bark that was put on? I'm just so curious any input would help :) congrats!!!!!

+phatnat13 Hmmm I'm no expert but I think if you upgrade something, for example if there was really ugly carpet and you put in nice hardwood, that can add to the value of the place. If you just make cosmetic changes that are not really upgrades, just personal preference, it won't add to the value and can detract if it's something super "out there" with the potential to turn away buyers. Also, it depends on the market. If it's a bad market and you make a lot of expensive changes, you still might not be able to recuperate your money. Anyone, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Personally, I think it would be much easier to leave everything, but like you said, I would think it would make it a lot harder to sell since not everyone has the same taste. Chandeliers, wallpaper, etc can easily be replaced, but then that's add added expense to the buyer.

I totally get your concerns about privacy. Another couple whose vlogs I follow had a house built and vlogged the whole experience so you could see the area and stuff and they just moved in and already had a couple of teenage girls show up at their front door who said they were "kind of" from the area. Like really! They brought cookies but even with sweet intentions it's creepy and so over the line.

Aspyn and Parker have had troubles with people finding out their location and they have yet to get blinds. I totally understand your need to have privacy, and people need to respect that. It's a shame that you have to hide your view or your new house because there are people out there that will just ruin your experience for you. The shade in some these comments! Yeesh. While the whole "beauty guru" thing isn't as popular/lucrative as it used to be, say, 6 or 7 years ago, Elle and Blair are obviously still making money. Blair is in commercials/print ads and takes acting jobs, they both have sponsorships and side businesses in addition to YT. I'm not understanding the comments like "Oh wow, how can they afford this?" or the snide remarks about their parents being wealthy and "probably helping out." Just know that they DID buy houses, and it's really no one's business how they came into the money to do so. This is exactly why vloggers get paranoid about sharing too much information. Instead of taking the videos for what they are, viewers have to turn into junior investigative reporters and post all of their business online.

The new house is very nice but what a waste of time customizing your condo. So many renovations done and money spent. I guess it doesn't matter but I don't see a point in doing extensive customization to a place unless you're going to live there a long time.

Not really, doing upgrades added value to her condo, so she could sell it for more money than what she bought it for! The same applies to home renovations. Any improvements add value to a home not only for the person to live in a better space but is great for if they decide to leave one day.

Obviously you have never owned a home in your life. When you add upgrades to you house you can make quite a profit off of those upgrades. Maybe if you ever move out of your parents basement, you will know what it's like buying/selling a home

I think she was planning on living there a long time. She wasn't in a relationship when she moved in to her condo and was able to make the changes that she wanted. I don't think she expected to be in a relationship and engaged in the couple years that she lived there, so I wouldn't call it a waste of money. Change happens, and sometime it happens faster than you expect it to. Plus, the changes she made may be able to increase the price of the home bringing in some decent profit, you never know.

+Kelly Rayray Why was is necessary to be so rude? The original commenter wasn't being nasty, they just stated their opinion. Also, yes, it can add value but it also can make it harder to sell. Elle's condo has a very specific style. Anyone who doesn't like glitz and glam and floral wallpaper most likely isn't going to be interested in her place. If they do end up buying it because of the floorpan/building/location/etc they'll probably make lower offers because they will need to put money into the condo to replace all of her wallpaper, column covering, and everything else that she added that doesn't fit their taste.

I totally understand not wanting to live away from siblings! I have a twin and I couldn't imagine living super far away from her! We have an older sister who lives thirty minutes away from us (we live together now) and even that seems like too far for us.

Congrats on the new house! I'm from OK so I'd have no clue where the house was if you showed it but I understand you wanting to keep it private. It's too bad people are so creepy sometimes. I can't believe people publicized where your condo was. Smh

The knowledge that people would do that has kept me from making my own material for KZbin, attempting to publish books, etc. After I did something like that I would likely be considered a "public figure" and my privacy as I now define it would likely cease to exist. (Assuming that anyone would view/read my works.)

I'm really excited for you Elle! That's awesome, and looks like a beautiful house! Don't worry about not showing us everything. Even though you put yourself out on youtube, you DO have a right to privacy. I can't imagine complete strangers knowing where I live. I'd love to see how you budget (not your real numbers obviously) and how you guys prepped to buy a house financially! I'm looking to do that in the semi-near future and it'd be great so see how someone else did it! Congrats!!

I'm so happy for you Elle! I completely agree with what you said about privacy - honestly I don't really think you even have to do too many room tours. This is your HOUSE, I'm assuming this will be your home for a looong time, and this is where you guys will start a family! You don't have to apologize for wanting to keep your family safe, you deserve peace of mind. You let thousands of people see pieces of your life, but some of those people feel waay too entitled to your privacy. Thanks for making videos and I hope you have a Merry Christmas!
