HELLO THERE:
We are Joe and Liisu, relatively new to KZbin but really excited to be a part of this community. We live small and sustainably in my home on wheels (a lovely van called Freyja) and from time to time out of our backpacks (we have not named the backpacks yet). On this channel, we ask you to join us on our travel adventures off the beaten track where we show you the beauty of untouched nature and wander into places most tourists don't dare to go.

I'm from Cappathocia. This is the first time I have encountered such an explanation. You have explained the history of Cappatokya very well. just like a scientist and with extraordinary storytelling. I congratulate you. I watched with pleasure.

Cappadocia really has a mystical beauty, and every time someone mentions Turkey, it's bound to bring to mind Cappadocia's hot air balloons! The cave in that rocky mountain in the video is incredible, I can't really imagine how it was built! Watching this video reminded me how small and helpless we are as a human race, all we can do is appreciate the scenery and respect it. You really capture the beauty of Cappadocia, well done, thank you so much for sharing! 👍😄👏

The vandalised icons on the church walls was done in the Byzantine period at a time when the Orthodox Church was against the depiction of religious imagery, this was called 'Iconoclasm'. Many icons and statues were damaged across the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium)

Thank you for this explanation. Islam too bans the depiction of religious figures whether it's God or Prophets, to prevent people from worshipping statues of clay and paintings instead of God alone. In fact even Buddha had banned his followers from making statues and icons, and the statues of him we now see everywhere were only started from the 12th century.

I am from cappadocia, I don’t live there but our grandparents still live, and we have a grape farm. Every year we travel for bayrams and looking for our grape farms. And just a couple weeks ago we harvested and make “pekmez” from grapes. I totally recommend buying it. Because you can’t find it anywhere and anytime other than there and now. It is so healthy and it keeps you warm in winter. Actually if I can give you guys from our pekmez, I would be so happy. If there is any way, please say it. Since you guys travel in a car I don’t know how I can send it. Anyway, thank you for explaining my homeland. It is really a pleasure seeing the lands that you grow from the eyes of a traveler like you. If there will be a next time coming cappadocia, please let me know. I would do anything, if I can. My grandma cooks the best food. We would be so happy to welcome you. But we might nit be there some time of the year, if you came on that time, that would be so sad for me. So I can’t fully promise. Sorry :(. Yolunuz açık olsun. Su gibi gidip su gibi gelin. :)

Also, the '80s was Turkey's first open-market entrance to the world, and Turgut Özal who was the economy minister, then PM, and then President, developed tourism in Turkey a lot by improving the sector in Anatolia, the Aegean coast, and Antalya.

Nice History Lesson but one thing is wrong... not "Greek Muslims" are coming here , Turks from the occupated Ottoman islands after the 1. Worlöd War what are now Greek islands are coming here. So Greece like to say to the Turks in Greece "Muslim Greeks" but they are Turks , its a big difference.

Its not true that in Ottoman tine alcohol is Allowed When you say it was allowed that means it wax served in public and everywhere which not true Yes there was people drink Alcohol but it does not mean its allowed , its just like anything prohibited for example drugs today are prohibited but still people do take it

Except some very short periods in 6 centuries, there wasn’t a government ban on alcohol in the ottoman times. Many sultans were drinking too. Greeks, armenians and assyrians were producing millions of tons of wine and had their public places serving it. Muslims were also among the customers. Well they were more into coffee and drugs though 😂

I personally think that going off alone in Turkey can be dangerous for a tourist, especially an older person. The climate is very hot and if you were lost in a car there are not sign posts in Cappadocia. Europeans often underestimate the change in climate.
