How are secondary bile acids different from primary bile acids?
@Nerdtritionists8 ай бұрын
Primary bile acids are synthesized in the liver. These can be converted to secondary bile acids in the intestines. Thus, "primary" and "secondary" describe the biochemical relationship between these molecules.

So acidic gut is better than an alkaline gut in terms of colon or small intestine should also be acidic?
@Nerdtritionists2 жыл бұрын
Different organs in our bodies all run best at different pH values. We all know about stomach acid. Interestingly, after leaving the stomach, the stomach acid is quickly neutralized and the small intestine is close to neutral. Then, in the colon you have the beneficial short chain fatty acids, so acidic again, as covered in this video! Our liver is strongly involved in the acid base balance (pathological ammonia uptake by the colon), our kidneys too (here we talk about acid and base forming foods). And we need to support all these organs by eating a healthy diet! Proper nutrients, fiber, resistant starch, not too many acid forming foods,... But alkaline water is not a good idea. You can not just add alkaline stuff to the body and hope it to help somehow. :)
