Not only Pope Francis but in 1989 the government also invited Pope John Paul twice... And their ministry of religious also welcomes the Pope with their own president attended. They also have invited a Jewish spokesman on behalf of the zionist to the mosque... Their ministry are not having firm stance on religion issues... This is much more different with Malaysian government, which banned all relations with Vatican and Israeli representatives from entering Malaysia.

Indonesia is a fantastic home, my wife is indonesian, and I cannot comment on all indonesian women, but certainly she is my best friend. Ever. I highly recommend coming here, and wish everyone would understand the difference between Islamic culture and general culture. Indonesian culture as a whole, regardless of religion, is welcoming, tolerant, and peaceful. This comes out in the way people practice their islam and their general lives. It's difficult to emigrate, you must invest, or marry a local. It is difficult to be employed ideally you need to be an investor of 10 BILLION IDR. But if you can fulfill these requirements. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Jakarta is not actually tourist spot but this is my list: - masjid istiqlal (Central Jakarta) - masjid Al Azhar (South Jakarta) About 500 m to the south from Al-Azhar, you can visit Blok M where you can have street food. If you visit Al-Azhar mosque for Fajr prayer, you can visit Blok M Square afterwards to have a lot of cakes in street vendor prior 8 am.

I suggest you to have a Muslimah friend from Indonesia specifically Jakarta. If you have one, it will be a lot easier for everything. she will tell every places you should visit. I watched a traveler video on Ramadan this year, and I feel so bad them because they made wrong decisions that make their experiences in Jakarta weren't really satisfied. it happen because of their lack of information. there was nothing bad happen but the place they stayed was too far from places they want to visit, etc. please have lot information before buying a flight ticket. the best way is by making friend with the local.

As a big city , Jakarta's infrastructure is unique. It is divided into 5 zones (North ,South ,East ,West ,Centre) ,which is equivalent to smallet Cities ,each headed by Mayors.......so there are more than 35 street food spots.....and in my opinion ,the best spot is Blok M (South) ,Jalan Sabang (Centre) ,PIK (Pantai Indah Kapuk) ,North Jakarta......that's where the food is good ,and plenty of sitting spaces....... And as mosques ,there many historical ,you can read in Wikipedia "Mesjid Di Jakarta" ,google can translate ....

Jakarta is too mainstream, and hot. Try other city. Bandung, Yogya, etc or even in other island, like Sumatera, Sulawesi, etc. Or try this, Aceh. A special Province, the Porch of Mecca, where Sharia Law is implemented. Don't be scared, unless the fact that women cannot go out alone at night, everything else is like other city in Indonesia. It will be a good content to live under Sharia Law in Aceh as a Westerner.

As an Indonesian that been traveled all of ASEAN countries, just don't expect too highly about Indonesia. Yes Indonesian people is the friendliest in ASEAN, Indonesian food is the best in ASEAN, best scenery in ASEAN, mountains, beaches etc. But the cities are too chaotic & Indonesia has the worst traffic in the world. For summary, if you looking for an Adventure Indonesia is top 10 countries in the world for an Adventure (according to ceoworld magazine). But to live? Malaysia is the best country to live in ASEAN.
