Episode 2 - Creating an Intersectional Climate Movement
Hosted by racial and climate justice organizer Naisha Khan Episode 2 explores the importance of viewing the climate movement through an intersectional lens. Naisha shows us how the climate movement has been built on a foundation of white supremacy which has erased the struggles of the racialized communities. Naisha then goes on to explain how, by understanding and applying the principle of intersectionality, we can create a more inclusive movement that centres marginalised voices. Drawing on her own experience in the movement Naisha goes on to share some of the ways we can all uphold intersectionality in the movement.
The Sustainabiliteens are a movement of young people across Metro Vancouver - united by the urgency they feel to stop climate catastrophe and by a shared vision to exercise their agency, and create a more just and sustainable world.

I actually feel sorry for today's youth who see everything through a lens of race, sex and oppresion. What a horrible way to go through life as a perpetual victim.

You're right, it is sad that this is the reality (and has been for hundreds of years or longer). And yet, who is it that is doing the victimizing? Ahem. (Plus, did you hear Naisha speak about joy and celebration?!)
