The Swamp Fox Passage Bikepacking Adventure. Day 1 of 2. Jay, Eddie, & Will return to the South Carolina Lowcountry to complete the Swamp Fox Passage and reach the Intracoastal Waterway.
Overview //
Trail Start: Lake Moultrie Swamp Fox Passage Trail Head
Trail End: Awendaw Passage Trail Head at Buck Hall Recreation Area and Boat Landing
Distance: 58 miles
Bike packing rigs: Trek Farley [Eddie], RSD Mayor [Jay] & Breezer Repack [Will]
Day 1 Route Description //
After returning to the the campsite on Lake Moultrie, where we had made the call to cut our previous trip short, we set out to complete the adventure and reach the Intracoastal Waterway.
After briefly riding on the levee adjacent Lake Moultrie, we cut east to begin the Swamp Fox Passage.
The first 16 miles would take us over several bridges and broken down skinnies as we made our way over Wadboo Creek to Little Hellhole Reserve.
From Little Hellhole Reserve, we continued on the Swamp Fox Passage for 5 miles, where we joined up with the Jericho Horse Trail. From there we rode ~1 mile south to reach our destination for the night - Nicholson Creek Campsite.

Another great video! Glad y’all came back. All the mud and swamps is why I ride in my Chacos during the spring through fall
@SimplyMountainBiking

I can definitely see why you would wear Chacos. I was pleased with my choice to wear water resistant hiking boots - though I did get water up and over the edge of the boot a few times. - Jay

Saw your post on Instagram and came straight home from work to watch this. You guys are quickly becoming some of my favorite KZbinrs. Definitely planning on hitting this section of the Palmetto Trail in the Spring...may end up doing almost a carbon copy of your ride.

Awesome to see some more local content creators for Carolina biking. Thanks for the ride info and ideas. Have you guys thought about doing the False Cape Boarder Dash or the Crowatan Vanish?

Thanks, John! I've considered portions of the Croatan Vanish for an upcoming trip. I've ridden that area a lot on dirt bikes and I think it has some fantastic scenery. Maybe you'll see a video from us on it some day! - Eddie

Hey, Mike! I think you might be okay if you go out in the fall on an average year. We've had record rains this year and I'm sure that contributed to the wet trail conditions. - Eddie

@Mike Miller - There was definitely a lot of mud, but we found it amusing - for most of the trip :). I guess it depends on what kind of adventure you're looking for. Regardless - hope you can get out and enjoy the trails! - Jay

Thanks so much for the quick reply! I'll report back if I decide to go soon (although I may not be as brave as you guys with those swampy conditions--hiking is looking like a more enticing option at this point, haha!).

Just circling back to let you guys know I ended up duplicating most of your route from this video (except on foot--I wasn' brave enough to cycle it!). I actually rewatched your video last night because I wanted to see what the section through Wandoo Crk. looked like in comparison to my hike. It was flooded when I went and I was a complete idiot for going through it. I had no idea how deep the water would get until I was too far in to turn back easily. Anyway, I made a video of it (albeit much less professionally produced that yours), if you want to see what that whole section looks like with enormous amounts of rain just prior to traversing it. Look forward to watching all your future content--you guys rock! Happy trails! :-)
