I ride a lot on limestone paths so I am investigating dry lubes. Wet lubes make a terrible mess. So when testing DRY Lubes, you don't let them DRY! This completely invalidates their purpose. They have to be dry to not attract dust. I didn't watch the rest of the video.

@@SimplyMountainBiking My apologies. So, I'm surprised you didn't tell me to watch the rest of the video. I did. So, great you tested them dry as the instructions direct. Was WD-40 bicycle Lube wet or dry not invented in 2021 at that time? Is there a possible way that you could probably use WD-40 bicycle chain lube wet or dry or a combination of both to test to see if it's even near the top two? Maybe the next video you could try it so that the viewers can get more better understanding on which lubrication is better to use. Thank you.

Thanks for filming and sharing this. I have been wanting to do the same thing, but add in a lightweight trailer for the kayak. Bike towing trailer with kayak to the water, get the bike and the trailer onto the kayak somehow, then reverse to get it all home. Thinking I may be better off making the trailer so it floats, when you said outrigger, my brain when DOH! Of course. Thinking I may be able to make the trailer out of 8” or 12” dia PVC pipe, that I can spread apart like a pontoon boat. Thanks again for sparking the ideas.

Well, this was a rather meaningless comparison of several fluids with wildly different functions, and a gross misinterpretation of the results. There's a reason why so many professionals swear by Dumonde Tech. At least Muc-Off made it on the podium though. Thank goodness Project Farm exists. 👎👎

This video is a Muc-off advert. I bought the Dry Lube based on this video. Product is rubbish..... May be it is the UK weather, and is for dry conditions, but I would expect it to withstand a little rain. Chain goes black within a few rides and before the "banana" smell wears off! I now stick to my Mineral Oil based all weather lube and although it is not perfect, it is better than Muc-Off and predictable.

Thanks for sharing your video. I am day 2 in ti a broken collarbone, and mine is sticking out under the skin. I do mtb DH. But due to a heart condition, I am disabled and are unable to stand for more than a couple of minutes or walk very far! So me being me does what I can and trys to ride my electric bike. I was doing good until I misjudged a gap and now am in a sling with my collarbone broken in two places. I can move my fingers around and my wrist but that's about it! I am hoping that it heels and I can get back to normally in the new year. As I have been told to rest for 3 months. But the hospital 🏥 said they are going to decide what to do in the meantime as I have to have more xrays. Its pretty scary when you can't move your arm. Mine will not allow me to move my elbow of my stomach. So I hope and pray that I can ride again as my bike is my freedom! 😂

Chains do not have rotational wear, it is rolling wear, the properties that protect it are not the same as a rolling test. The pin inside the chain rolls back and forth in the same position and needs a lubricant with specific properties. The other factor is how much dirt the product attracts and permeability. Finally, even if this was a rotational system it would need the correct viscosity for the gap. Because of this you may get skewed results.
@SimplyMountainBiking28 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I don't think the pin moves. It is welded or set in a link. the other link moves on the pin. Also, an o-ring chain has a ring around the pin that can rotate. -Eddie

Not a close representation of real world applications. Most of those lubes require hours of dry time before use. They are also made to repel dirt and grime not just provide a frictionless environment. So much more to bike lubricant than running it on a clean surface and not following manufacturer instructions.
