Games like Postal, GTA, Manhunt or Mortal Kombat sold well because they caused outrage and got free publicity. There's claims that one of them (I think GTA) even purposefully sparked its own media backlash and got all the media to join in. That is genius and it clearly worked perfectly. I was wondering when games would do those some tactics nowadays, when gore doesn't really shock anyone, but causing outrage is easier than ever. I guess it's more risky now since it's not some puppet in a suit on news TV reading a script about what a horrible person you are, but actual people trying to sabotage your life. Then again, it's not working for them anymore.

The simple fact that if your company goes public anybody in the world with enough money can buy it out from under you (by buying a majority of the shares) and your fiduciary duties prevent you from saying no is, in my personal opinion, a clear sign that publicly trading companies is a bad idea. I would gow Ascension was Better than gow4 and Gow ragnarok. It at least has Aerial jump combos. Elemental Blades of Chaos were good and Its multiplayer had weapons you unlock by playing it the old fashioned way, gow2 weapons and level.
