Now that I've upgraded to a modded OLED I'm looking forward to setting up Android for better streaming performance. I'm surprised you didn't mention Moonlight - even via HOS it seemed pretty capable, but apparently it's muuuuch better via Android because unlike homebrew running in HOS, Android allows full access to the GPU. And yeah, Duckstation HOS is great. I rediscovered Gran Turismo 2 last year and have been playing it for months on my Switch with widescreen, FPS and content mods. It's amazing, and it sips battery - when I got really carried away I could get over 6 hours from my V1, so I expect >10 hours (not that I'll ever play for that long) from my OLED. ToTK has been gathering dust while I rack up hundreds of hours in a 25 year old racing game that I didn't even like that much when it first came out! Such an amazing family of machines.

Bro just casually shows us the coolest Switch Lite ever💀 NGL, I am so god damn jealous. I love the Lite but a Lite, modded software wise AND with an OLED screen is just so sick. Hell yea.

We need that OLED screen mode!!!

After spending a long time thinking about it I finally got a Switch lite and the hardware jailbreak (the process was done by an expert, not me) for the equivalent of around 170 USD thanks to videos like this showcasing what it can do. I was gonna get either the v2 or OLED one but then I realised I genuinely care more about the portability aspect than using it docked. Plus, I could always get the OLED screen replacement Taki is working on and run Switch games at docked resolution.

Well done! You are one of the few people, or the only one, who wants to break through so many layers of emulation! You had a video in which you were running games created for Windows on an ARM processor. Since Microsoft probably intends to switch to the ARM architecture as it has released its dev kit based on a Qualcomm processor, maybe an update? Some test of how Windows Steam games currently work on really powerful units based on ARM architecture. Has anything improved in terms of compatibility or emulation speed?

Yes, there are two teams that are working on translation software for Windows apps/games on ARM processors. I featured one of them in this video. There's another one called FEX that has a big backing. Both Box & Fex can run modern AAA games on flagship Qualcomm chips with varying degrees of success.

Good to hear. Apparently I didn't watch the video very carefully :P I'm waiting for the switch to energy-saving solutions, with high power and long battery life (SteamDeck 2/3 maybe?). You can now run Windows/Android/Linux on one hardware platform. I am also curious how quickly the possible increase in Risc-V's importance in market share will proceed. For now, these are just speculations. Regards and I'm waiting for the next videos :D

Hey Taki, I just wanted to say I love your videos and I apologize for that time I got mad at you in the comment section because those RG350/351 handhelds weren’t functioning properly for me. Ever since then I have given up retro gaming, but I still enjoy your vids. They are fun to watch. On a sidenote, I now own an Xbox Series S, a PS5 and my older brother let me have his old beat up Switch (from 2020) and I bought a Nitro Deck controller for it. Anyway, yeah, you probably won’t remember me, but in any case, have a nice day and keep makin great vids.

This comment ^ is for Taki btw. He is the only one that should be responding to it. Not KZbin internet trolls.

Oh man i want that oled screen for switch lite so bad... Me and some of my friends have talked about this plenty of times and how perfect the switch light would be with an OLED. But it would be great if the OLED filled the entire space with no borders making the screen bigger. Also they should have done this when they came out with the OLED for the original switch. Hope this works out well.

As a former owner of an Nvidia Shield I would expect SOME GC games running on it but RE4 and PS2 games were out of the question. Really impressed by the Lite (and Linux based OS)

The oled lite is the dream handheld, will buy as soon as the screen is available for sale.

*OMG.* I now want a moded Dialga y Palkia Switch Lite (the most stylish IMO)... This is the GOAT android handheld, since it also runs Switch games natively.

Is it possible to do video out while emulating something like DS games? Then you could have the bottom screen and top screen have their own dedicated displays! Just some food for thought. Great video, really opened my eyes to how powerful the switch lite actually is when we take advantage of its full capabilities. I only have an OLED switch right now, but this video definitely put the lite on the horizon for me. Important to grab a few and support Nintendo while they’re still making the switch. I hate looking at 3DS prices nowadays! I should’ve gotten more while they were cheap

I have CFW on a V1 Switch and tried Android, but wasn't happy with GC performance at the time. I didn't bother with Linux, and I had no idea it was that good for emulation. This video was enlightening lol

I got a brand new Switch lite for 140€ just days before your community post about the OLED mod. There aren't many videos showcasing a modded Switch lite so this is awesome!

The Switch Lite goes hard! There is a project out there that kinda like NCE in Yuzu simply translates ARM code from the Vita to the Switch and its OS. I was wondering if, since the Switch is really popular, one could, instead of emulating, simply translate the Opcodes from GBA, DS and 3DS to the Switches Opcodes, since they all are based on ARM, that would be much more efficient. Additionally Android 13 for Switch is on the way with a modern Linux kernel. The open source nvidia driver NVK is also getting a lot of progress and might be able to beat the proprietary nvidia Tegra driver used these days thanks to all the Mesa3D goodness. I said it once under your community post, but maybe we will be able to translate Switch to Android with all the benefits of modern drivers and OS and we will get more performance even for Switch games on the Switch itself, but that is a pipe dream maybe blossoming in 5 years or so.

Sounds like some kind of virtualization mods. Yeah it should be possible I mean those ARM commands are still backwards compatible, aren't they? For the Vita they should be, for the older GBA I don't know might be deprecated.

I loooooooove this video and I can imagine how much insane amount of time you have put into this. Definitely one of the best Taki videos!!!! And now i want to take out my modded switch to tickle it. Imagine putting the mig switch flashcard in it too. What a super machine

My favourite mod for the switch has to be the controller support for other controllers. Using a dual sense for gyro is nuts.
