The Switch OLED is my favorite due to the removable joycon where you can due a proper flip grip orientation for DS / TATE, use the kickstand for table top and use pro controller 3rd party joypad options. Awesome video - I think it's your best yet! I've been dabbling with Moonlight (via the Switch's Horizon OS) to stream Elden Ring to my Switch V1. Now that I've upgraded to a modded OLED I'm looking forward to setting up Android for better streaming performance. I'm surprised you didn't mention Moonlight - even via HOS it seemed pretty capable, but apparently it's muuuuch better via Android because unlike homebrew running in HOS, Android allows full access to the GPU. And yeah, Duckstation HOS is great. I rediscovered Gran Turismo 2 last year and have been playing it for months on my Switch with widescreen, FPS and content mods. It's amazing, and it sips battery - when I got really carried away I could get over 6 hours from my V1, so I expect >10 hours (not that I'll ever play for that long) from my OLED. ToTK has been gathering dust while I rack up hundreds of hours in a 25 year old racing game that I didn't even like that much when it first came out! Such an amazing family of machines.

I’ve been all about modding my consoles forever. But now that I have a Steam Deck, I can’t say enough how great it is to trick out a console that isn’t fighting me the whole way. Experience has taught me to be scared each time that I add a new feature to a hacked console. You never know which mod will be the one that finally bricks the unit, or whether it will be possible to fix it. The openness and huge amounts of community support around the steam deck make it just worlds better than any modded console that I’ve ever tried. The deck can do EVERYTHING the Switch does, do it bettter, and do all of the things that are outside of the Switches capabilities. I’ve been loading it up with PS3 and Switch games lately.

Hey Taki, I just wanted to say I love your videos and I apologize for that time I got mad at you in the comment section because those RG350/351 handhelds weren’t functioning properly for me. Ever since then I have given up retro gaming, but I still enjoy your vids. They are fun to watch. On a sidenote, I now own an Xbox Series S, a PS5 and my older brother let me have his old beat up Switch (from 2020) and I bought a Nitro Deck controller for it. Anyway, yeah, you probably won’t remember me, but in any case, have a nice day and keep makin great vids.

Does modding allow for deeper control customization? One of the main reasons I never swapped my Vita for a Lite yet, despite loving the overall device, was that the right thumb stick couldn't be used to remap the Dpad. Is this possible with mods now? I know it's oddly specific, but I'm an weird niche where I cover a lot of strategy games for my channel while being a dad of 3. Often times I'm testing or strategizing while donating plasma to cover bills. This means one arm. On the Vita, I swap the Dpad or Deck for the right thumb stick, and I can make Tactics Ogre builds for videos. For the Switch...not so much. For some games it works to just swap the sticks, but not all.

very good question. got me thinking too regarding the customizations compared to vita. on vita, it was very awesome feature for one handed gaming session. btw love ur video/tutorials on TOLUCT especially onevision

Well done! You are one of the few people, or the only one, who wants to break through so many layers of emulation! You had a video in which you were running games created for Windows on an ARM processor. Since Microsoft probably intends to switch to the ARM architecture as it has released its dev kit based on a Qualcomm processor, maybe an update? Some test of how Windows Steam games currently work on really powerful units based on ARM architecture. Has anything improved in terms of compatibility or emulation speed?
@TakiUdon10 ай бұрын
Yes, there are two teams that are working on translation software for Windows apps/games on ARM processors. I featured one of them in this video. There's another one called FEX that has a big backing. Both Box & Fex can run modern AAA games on flagship Qualcomm chips with varying degrees of success.

Good to hear. Apparently I didn't watch the video very carefully :P I'm waiting for the switch to energy-saving solutions, with high power and long battery life (SteamDeck 2/3 maybe?). You can now run Windows/Android/Linux on one hardware platform. I am also curious how quickly the possible increase in Risc-V's importance in market share will proceed. For now, these are just speculations. Regards and I'm waiting for the next videos :D

I like the idea of doing upgrades to the Switch Lite that don't really affect the software and using it that way. I guess if I were to pursue getting a secondhand one that needs easy repairs that someone doesn't want to bother with in one way or another, and if anything was possible, my ideal build would be: Transparent green shell (Doesn't look like they make them...) Dome Switch buttons (is that a thing anyone has even tried?) and the OLED screen (isn't made yet)

What settings are you using for Galaxy 2? It's running so well. Also, does the Linux distro matters for performance, like playing SMG2 like you see you the video on Ubuntu?
@escapetherace19437 ай бұрын
I don't know about the switch but on PC distro doesn't matter. What matters is if the gpu drivers are up to date but even on slower distros you can just enable the unstable branch and have the newest gpu drivers auto update

Sell your Switch and buy an OLED Switch. OLED on the Switch Lite is different because the console is pocket-sized and there''s few options available in this form factor, price, and comfort.

@@RealRagnar816 And I'm saying that's like arguing it doesn't matter that you can't buy new tires because there are new cars available. It's an incredibly illogical argument. The existence of a thing with the desired features in no way negates the validity of wanting to be able to add features to something you already have. Mods and upgrades are crucial to keeping stuff in use as long as possible, reducing waste and overconsumption - and saving us money. Really a win-win thing.

Oh man i want that oled screen for switch lite so bad... Me and some of my friends have talked about this plenty of times and how perfect the switch light would be with an OLED. But it would be great if the OLED filled the entire space with no borders making the screen bigger. Also they should have done this when they came out with the OLED for the original switch. Hope this works out well.

Very nice Video as allways - must been take a while to produce it. I am looking forward to the Oled Screen for the Switch Lite. Got mine for 220 but in Mint condition and the seller was an fine solderer. I hope that the Process while be easy so i can do it myself - sometimes i destroyed something in the making so i am a bit scared :D About two days ago i broke an almost new 3ds XL in a simple Caseswap .....
