Black blades in their hands Obey his every command They search for that which was lost Through realms of rime and of frost Where no mortal may pass Atop a dais of glass Sits a scepter of light A symbol of titan’s might He comes from cities of darkness To suffer harlots and fools Loneliness is his raiment Solitude is his jewel He’s seen the valley of solace Beheld the spires of sleep He’s fed the pyres of the fallen And heard their widows weep We come from cities in darkness To conquer cowards and fools Loneliness is our payment Solitude is our due Walk through valleys of solace Ascend the spires of sleep Ignore the warnings of prophets And for the children I’ll weep Skies blackened with crows Shadows on winter’s snows Within a temple of ice Priestesses perform the rites Witness the setting of suns The darkest days have begun Let the seers come forth At morning’s light we ride north

there's so many awesome songs that I can't point to 1 and say it's my favorite.

The main/opening/post-breakdown riff is one of the greatest things I've ever heard.

@ArgueExplain I guess that puts you in the minority of those who do not listen to multiple The Sword songs over and over.

@aaartnaz Damn right. I got into these guys about a year back and it totally changed my approach to the guitar. I've always been a Laney AOR amp user and I picked up a BC Rich Mockingbird like JD's. Loving the combination.

Actually, what I've heard it's because of the direction their music took at later albums. Haven't tried listening to those yet though so I have no real valid opinion. :P

sounds like CoC's arms of god beginning riff

@kombik98 yeah i hear people call them hipsters, but i don't care what they think, this shit is rocking

They tend to be very close minded about new bands.

@frenchicelandicpomel Jealousy? Maybe they don't get what they're about? With all the screamo crap about these guys have redefined good tight classic metal.

I loooooooove the second album. And yes the first is my favorite but the second album is somewhat slightly shifted in terms of genre, this does not make it worse/better just different, I did not like the third album at first cause I listen to the sword for doom metal not heavy metal, but when I was more in the mood for faster metal I too fell in love with the third album, again it is just a different genre not better/worse though I quite miss Cronise and very miss the unique style of this album

Not sure how you miss him, he never went anywhere.

The problem with "The Sword" is that if you watch one of their videos, your video feeds gets filled with other Sword videos. I just wanted to see what they sounded like, I didn't want to get video blitzed by them.
@Toshiro_Mifune12 жыл бұрын
cause every album is worse than the first, and the frontman's hairstyle doesn't help the situation.
