This time of year can be exceptionally stressful, with its emphasis on the weight of our purchases. Looking back in pre-Christian history, the winter solstice was frequently celebrated as a returning of longer days, a re-birth of the “Sun King,” a celebration of hope in the dark and cold of the year.
Join us as we explore the importance of the winter solstice, contemplating its astrological meaning, specific winter festivals like Saturnalia and Yule, and the prevalence of themes of death and resurrection, whether we’re talking about the rebirth of the earth, the Sun, or Christ. We strive to call the feminine back into a time of year that tends to focus on the birth of the Christian king, contemplating stories of Ishtar and Innana, to re-enchant what otherwise may feel a chaotic time of year.

re: Saturn as ruling the golden age. A thought that sticks out for me has to do with the Capricorn energy that Saturn stewards. Capricorn is at its most fertile at summer solstice (full moon in Capricorn/Earth in Capricorn), and summer being the golden time of the year. Just found your podcast and I’m excited to listen to more! Great content.
