Currently crying my eyes out on my birthday, filling out college applications to go somewhere far away. "Wasting my time, in the wring state of mind, I'm just a regular person.." For the beginning half of high school, I was a perfectionist and had to have perfect grades. Junior-senior year, I really began to slack and questioned my motives. I started to sleep late, not eat, not do anything, and feel like shit for doing so. Now, I realize that my attempts to be average have done nothing good for me; why have I given up my hopes and dreams? Because if what others might have said? I feel like I have so much wasted potential, I truly regret all of the things I didn't do but wanted to. This is the last year I will live with my family, see my high school friends, and have a birthday at home before I'm off to an unknown place, far from home where I know no one. Soon, I will have to head out into the real world. I truly feel like giving up on everything, I feel like this path I have been preparing for my whole life is just not for me and I don't know what to do. To me, this song shows the sudden realization that nothing is forever, that my youth and life are slowly slipping away before my very eyes and there is nothing I can do about it.
