Wish these guys never split up, they had so much more great music to make 😭 Sammy is okay, but these guys were the greatest American rock band with Dave in my opinion

Agree I was never really much of a fan of Van Hagar.
@Acoustic_strings10 күн бұрын
100% yes. I liked Roth with VH a lot more than Hagar.

This solo is my favorite of all of Eddie's solo's. It's just so melodic and the rhyme and timing is spot on! It's grooving as hell. Love it.

So dope. A sleeper of a song on 1984. I always thought someone else sang this song but it was Diamond Dave and Van Halen.

From the 1984 album, " 1984", a great tune written by the band members, with some help from Michael McDonald, who sings backing vocals also. Inspired by a Calvin Klein ad, with a women wearing men's underwear, a great melody, with a synthesizer bass line, great drums and guitars. Wonderful vocals, with Eddie providing some masterful backing riffs and a great guitar solo. Made it to Number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100's and Number 21 in Canada. Great reaction Handsome Harri ❤❤ Great tune Neal👏👏 Got any snow Neal? ❄️❄️ Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦

This song was co-written by Michael McDonald although he initially never received any credit for it. It's an interesting story.

Harri, that is David Lee Roth. Not only was Eddie Van Halen a virtuoso guitarist, he was so talented and implemented synth on many other songs. It shows how versatile EVH truly was and not the typical diva guitarist. Thank you PNCombies. You sure know how to pick them brother!!! 👍👍👍

Imadrummin - Thanks as always, brother! I saw Van Halen once here in Austin...The "1984 Tour". Roth was wasted walking around the stage with a bottle of JD in his hand and forgetting the lyrics a few times. That 1984 album was packed with hits; "Panama", "I'll Wait", "Jump" and "Hot For Teacher".

This version sounds a lot more full than usual to me. That acoustic drum sound has always been my favorite part of this song

Back in those days, the 2 main types of radio stations were top 40 and AOR ( album oriented rock) stations. They had a top 40 hit from their 2nd album " dance the night away", but until 1984, their music was relegated to aor rock stations. As big as " unchained", " mean street" etc seemed, they didnt make top 40. The 1984 album changed all that, because it was played almost entirely on top 40 stations

People forget that Eddie was also an accomplished keyboard player as well.

I THINK that the song was written as a challenge- look at this picture you have up on your wall. Write a song about the girl in that picture. Seem to have heard that story somewhere. Anyway, this is Eddie playing on the keyboards in this song. That's why you don't hear the heavy guitar-led music on this one. Most of their commercially popular hits were Eddie on keyboards- Jump and Panama for instance. I don't think Van Halen were nearly as popular "across the pond" there in the UK, but here they are monsters. You should try doing the song "Right Now" to hear some more keyboards, and the video for the song is amazing. Think you'd dig it.

Van Halen discovered by Gene Simmons of Kiss He tried to get them a record deal but was unsuccessful I bet someone was fired from that record label Anyway they obviously got one later RIP Eddie

Great song and the only song I like by Van Halen. The video isn't my taste, as a fifty year old woman. ha

What in God's name is up with that stupid video attached to the song. Completely ruined the experience.

I selected the remastered studio version. Too often the vids we select get blocked. Evidently that was the case and Harri selected this version. Out of my hands, brother; close your eyes and make the best of it!

The song is about a man falls in love with the images of a woman and his struggles with that. What the hell else did you expect the video to be?!? And news flash - you're under no obligation to watch it. Moron...
