I have two Atom jackets. I love them. Mine are form the LEAF line. I like the pocket on the outside, and it has larger cuffs. But the standard is pretty sweet as well.

I finally shelled out on an LT to wear under my motorcycle jacket on the road. I actually have a LEAF Atom SV but that jacket is a little too warm when I'm off the bike, the LT can be worn in restaurants, malls, anywhere really, it doesn't make you feel warm, just Not Cold. I tried on the proton as well and I will probably be buying one later on

I own 3 Proton LT’s 1 Proton FL and 4 Atom LT ’s (2 2018 model and 2 2020 model). Both styled jackets are amazing. But Imo, I love The Atom more than the Proton. I hike A LOT and I purchased The Proton because…….well it ventilates better than the Atom LT, but it still makes me sweat and is slightly less warm despite the 80gram loft that The Proton has. It’s a different type of insulation. I forgot the correct type of insulation it has. The Atom compacts better than the Proton, but the Proton is more durable. Honestly I just love The Atom LT more than The Proton. The new updates on The Atom make it more breathable. The Proton hasn’t been updated since 2019

Great comment! Do you not however find yourself losing heat at the top of a windy mountain due to the side panels on the Atom? It's my main concern. Hesitating on which to buy.

How is the durability of Atom LT? Does it show any wear on shoulders where backpack sits? I've read some bad reviews. People say that face fabric is fragile. It wrinkles and tear s easly. ale Arcteryx do not want to repair or refund the jackets.
@TVinmyEye

@@fredericp64 Hi sorry for the late reply. I find that I don’t loose much heat from the fleece side panels on the Atom LT. The Proton is felt all over and it’s very noticeable to me. The Atom although less durable, I find it my go to for all hiking and back country adventures. Proton is best used IMO in temps 50°F - 60°F. I find I can use the atom is temps lower than 50°F with wind

Arcteryx doesn’t seem to want to sell anything to someone my size. I wear XL in almost every brand. I can’t get the zipper ends to touch on their XL. Their XXL will zip, but it’s like wearing a sausage casing. I can stand to lose a few lbs, but I’m not that big.

I've wanted one but didn't want to shell out the $$. My synthetic of choice is the Patagonia Nanopuff that I've had for a decade. I did back and try the Outdoor Vitals LoftTek but that has held up extremely poorly and in just a year the insulation has shifted leaving huge gaps in coverage. So I've gone back to the Nanopuff as my go to.

Hey, I live in France and I'm looking for this type of jacket. The torrid apex seems more appealing to me as it seems warmer especially for the weight (no fleece part) but I actually have to import it from the US which is a bit complicated. What would you advise as a very light synthetic jacket (under 300 gr with full zipper and hood). The Arc'teryx one, the torrid apex, perhaps the Patagonia one, what are the pros and cons ? Thanks in advance ;)

@@aaalllen Atom LT is better at rest, but I find the Nano more breathable, especially the version with the fleece back. To me, breathability > static warmth in an active insulator and why I usually reach for a polartec alpha garment for that role.
