I definitely could drag this 20 year story out for a good while, but I do my best to explain a few stories of this Jeep XJ and where it's played a role in my jeep timeline. I drug this out of a field at 13 and now at 33 it's been through a lot in my life. Not sure where I would be without it directing my life. Different format than my usual videos. Maybe you will enjoy so I can do more.

Sit on that bucket man! You're an inspiration to thousands of us and we love to hear your stories. Personally I wouldn't like your channel so much without the extra commentary about your history and WHY you know what you know - because you've seen a lot of ****! Final word of advice: try not to be so hard on yourself :)

Watched this after your longer personal story. Only got into watching jeep stuff since my youngest got into jeeps. But I can honestly say, I think your parents knew what they were doing. We basically did something similar. Jeep keeps breaking or 'needing' mods, so it's keeping him busy - best investment ever.

Dex, you had an awesome childhood! Sweet!! My first (mine) ride was an 88 Toyota with a 4” lift. Really nice truck. Blew head gasket, fixed it, blew again, paid to get it fixed, threw a rod, sold it. Got a 95 yj in 2005 and still have it today. That’s my picture on here.

I'm pretty sure I can speak for all of us who watch your channel that we enjoy all of your content especially storie time with dex. Honestly one of my favorite KZbin channels I have 3 XJ and 1 wj all are modified some way more then others. I look forward to any video you put out. Thank you again for starting a KZbin channel and sharing all of your knowledge with us. I will continue to be a supporter of your channel and buying your merchandise so you can continue to make videos. Again thank you for signing the one of one hate I bought from you. God bless keep up the good work.

Dex, you and I have a lot in common when it comes to being poor and the way we were raised. I remember being 15 16 17 years old and all my friends would off-road. We too would do Creek crossings mud riding. And we would do hide and go seek with our four-wheel drives at night using CB radios. All of us have stories so keep telling them so that the younger generation can enjoy the simple things. Love what you do love what you build!

Your stories are fun because you show how you learned and the goofy mistakes you made learning. i'm 53 years old. I've had a few 4wd rigs, but I'm having the most fun building and learning to fabri-cobble my 97 XJ together. I've done most things about as "wrong as possible," because I'm pretty sure I can make it work. I end up changing things up and trying again. I'm sure i've wasted money over buying proven parts, but I'm having fun learning.

I bought a gently used '96 XJ that was in the rare factory magenta color from its original owner in November 2003. I drove that thing daily, and as the years piled up, I vowed that I'd give it a decent retirement if I could get 20 years of use from it. November 2023 came very quickly, and I was reluctant to let it go, so I held on another two months until January 2024, when I sold it to a coworker. I missed the thing dearly (who wouldn't after 20 years of daily driving), so I've since purchased a nice 1997 XJ in white to replace it as my commuter.

Back in the late 90s I had a system that I had $500 in with all brand new ample audio speakers and amp. 12’ svc x2 and a a226 520 watt amp with a blaupunkt CD player. All that was in a 92 g20 Chevy van. I also have all ample mid range stuff to but that was the cleanest and hardest hitting system. I won a trophy from it and also took it to a db contest and got 141 db reading off $500. The only people louder than mine were the people that had several k on theirs.

Hey thanks for this man. Makes me think back to when i was 18 with my first vehicle that i still own and drive till this day! 93 jeep xj country, good ol green and tan with wood grain. my mom and dad bought it brand new in 92 and i ended up buying it at 18 when i need to be able to get to work! my older brother bought my moms previous 89 jeep xj laredo red and grey and we both modified them and are constantly changing them and now entering into our 30's we are sitting back wondering, what, huh, and why haha, my mom passed away a couple years ago and we decided we are never going to part ways with them! Anyways i appreciate this video it brought back alot of memories of my own! and i got a huge kick out of hearing yours!

Enjoyed every second of that. Makes me feel like I been there. I feel like we have so much in common. With the not having money but wanting to make it happen either way. So meany times I’ve had to make my own stuff and make stuff work that shouldn’t work for my Jeep just to get me by. Love the story and love hearing how it all started. You definitely Learned a lot w step of the way and that’s a fine example of not giving up on something you love. Keep it up Dex you’re doing a great job at everything. The videos are only getting better. PS: thank you for the quick shipping on the intake. Thing was in waaay better shape then expected and way cleaner then mine currently on the Jeep. Can’t wait to install it and the new TB and injectors.

Nice jeep. I love my jeep xj's I had a bunch of them already. I'm down to only 2 now. My 93 sport high output and my 91 sport high output police one. At least that's what stetler dodge told me when they did the Vin to make me a master key.the 93 is sky jacker 6 in. Lift 34 in super stampers. And 91 is 8.5 in sky jacker with 36 in stampers which the 91 I swapped out the Dana 35 to the Chrysler rear and I also swapped out the drum breaks in the rear for the disc breaks . I love building jeeps and my own bumpers fenders so fourth. I'm an auto mechanic myself certified welder and any chance I get to build something I go to it lol. Love your videos keep them coming.

Well I thought this was a good idea I kind of wanted to know for a while where and how you started and I'm definitely gonna be waiting eagerly to see the electric to crank window conversion because I have a 1989 Tudor that's got power everything and I can never get the windows to wanna go very fast when it's cold out and the summer they work fine but that's when I'm using the air conditioning so i just leave them up(SO-CAL) but in the cooler months when wheelin they might go up and down 20 times a day.

I've got a couple xj dana 44s in my stash one open diff and one trac lock. I still have my first xj it's had a few different stages but this last refresh it's real nice. I've had a bunch of xj's definitely not as many as you im guessing around 20 or so but for whatever reason my favorite ones are 1992 or 91 and 92 So I've mostly stuck to the 91-95 and more specificly the 91-92 but there's stuff from other years I like more that I switch around. I'm really picky with little details. I've been going through xj's at my local wrecking yards for years but recently they've been having less xj's so I started buying some to keep as parts rigs and future projects. I really like making them have nice interiors so I always snag clean interior pieces that I like. One thing I've been looking for is a factory black early interior to snag the dash and center console and interior plastics from if nice but they are incredibly rare I've only seen one renix era Cherokee with factory black interior I've seen plenty of maroon and blue tan and of course gray but the black is super hard to find I really want the black dash and bottom dash trim and other black pieces I'm not into painting interior parts. It's gonna be super hard to find good not cracked or faded pieces though.

Love the old photos and videos spliced in. Classics. Also, please keep emphasizing how little money you started with, and how you earned money to support your career. May not seem like much to you, but guarantee others enjoy learning how you got where you are today. The comment about having owned 3,000 Cherokees at 33 years old is, quite a feat. Many repaired and sold, some parts donors, and some scrapped. **The name Dex should be in parenthesis any time the word Recycle is used. 😜😜😜😜
