WOAH! That was a clever take on Smudger and Stanley. I have a story about the 2 engines but only one gets turned into a generator. But to have Stanley be the pumping engine and then for Smudger to take his place after he left for the mines is so obvious yet brilliant. Its really sad to hear about Smudger and Baldwin. The fact that Smudger decided to become a generator was also very interesting because it feels like that's his way of apologising and making up for all of his accidents. Shame he's no longer around. Anyway, great job and great story:)

A sad and great story! I remember ShunterProductions had done a similar story involving those two different number two engines of the MSR beforehand, but I like how you did the take on both Baldwin and Smudger even better without confusion of which one of them is the real number two. I do feel sorry for how both engines never got preserved and what their fates are, but as they say "Not every story can have a happy ending".

I am very interested of the story on Baldwin and smudger and it explains it perfectly and it does make sense and I could understand why they prefer Stanley basis over smudger's that's perfectly understandable but for me I prefer both and for the ending itself I really do feel sorry for both Baldwin and Smudger and it almost made me cry a little bit but overall very interesting.

Well, Awdry said it's a nickname. It was never confirmed what No .2's real name is. I just thought that I shake things up & give him a good name. And before you ask, NO. He's not named after Alec Baldwin, rather the works he was built in: Baldwin Locomotive works.

Thankfully my version of Stanley has him being rescued in 1948, and put back to work in a quarry in Poland, a more wiser and older engine.
