Ya know what I love most about comics like these? Lancer understandings Rouxls. I’m not saying that in a metaphorical way, like Lancer understands what message Rouxls is trying to send, I mean Lancer literally understands Rouxls’ vocabulary. It would be so easy to write Lancer as a dumb kid that has no idea what all those big words Rouxls uses are, but he responds to them perfectly. This could imply Lancer has a good education and a high vocabulary himself, but Rouxls is the only character we know of that speaks that way, so being educated on his weird old-timey English would be almost worthless. I like to think Lancer understands Rouxls because of all the time he spends with him, slowly absorbing and learning his vocabulary as Rouxls takes care of him. Edit: Holy shit, I’m famous!

speaking as the artist of this comic, i agree entirely but mostly for two different reasons: 1: I can see Rouxls as the type to not really treat lancer like a child. just like in the comic, he speaks to him as if he is his equal, or even his superior, so i didn't want him to simplify his language for Lancer's sake. Rouxls knows he's not a dumb kid, so he's not going to treat him as such. 2: I sort of have a headcanon of my own that rouxls will read to Lancer, but he only reads olden day poerty and/or Shakespearian novels. so, in turn, i can see lancer would be used to that kind of language. Thank god for lancer tho, since Rouxls uses the language in a completely butchered and modernized version of the original dialect, its easier for him to get a grasp of with the predetermined familiarity of whats been read to him.

Lancer has been abused in a way where he can't see what's wrong with his dad while being abused. He has most likely been pushed away and maybe even harmed by his dad but still wants to impress him and make him proud like an actual kid. Omg this is just so good! I’m glad it was continued. Was waiting for a second part! Wonderful voice acting, sounds and music! This comic has made me both so happy that Lancer had Rouxls but also so sad. Even after the talk Lancer was still mentioning having to “impress his dad” and Rouxls’s face after hearing that was...ugh...sadness. I’m glad it didn’t end there though.
