Ortigas Center and Quezon city are sites for potential supertalls even if the NAIA won't be decommissioned as they are far from the airport. Manila also needs to be decongested by a spur of new cbds on elevations where rising sea levels is not even a concern like perhaps plateau areas like Benguet, Marawi, Silang-tagaytay area.

It’s 2024 when I make this comment, sadly I don’t think I’ve seen Stratford, Movenpick, and DDT Sky Tower materialize at all. Though I think The Estate Makati is making progress, we’re just anticipating if it will surpass the height of Discovery Primea. Also another tower to take note of is Park Central South Tower, Makati. Rumored to be taller than Discovery Primea, though imo it’s hard to tell since certain angles of the Makati Skyline might make the illusion of the tower looking short.

High-rise condos are way more common in Asia than in western countries for sure.

we should have tall buildings here in Philippines because we have huge population and small area we should build up

If you ask me, I don’t need many or huge skyscrapers in my country. Tall buildings are not a basis for saying that a country is advancing. We have many natural wonders to be proud of. All we need is for the Government to create more jobs, provide shelter for the homeless and let them free to live peacefully. Relocate people outside the city to decongest the city’s growing population. Help and improve agriculture sector. Modernize the AFP and Maritime. I live in the mountains, happy and have my own land on which the house stands, with a ricefield, lots of vegetables can be found anywhere; creeks, rivers, forest, etc. Accessible roads, all concrete. What can I ask for? I would rather preserve my land! What would the next generation be like if every place is built with buildings? How is the environment? I don’t want that one day, the next generation will just live in apartments, paying the apartment's owner. I repeat: We do not need many buildings to say that a country is advancing. Just focus on the environment and create advanced solutions to any risk posed by nature in the future.

I disagree, those condos and hotels create jobs, increase tax revenue, and spur the local economy. The office buildings attract high-profile multinational corps to the area also. I appreciate your perspective and thanks for commenting.

Skyrises depend on a country's economy. As you see, these are very common in the countries of Asia like the Philippines. Services is one of the biggest contributors in the Philippine economy that's why there's a huge demand for tall buildings. As mentioned in the video, its capital is one of the most densely populated on the planet. With that amount of people, it's only imperative to build high rises and skyscrapers to save space as well. On the contrary, countries in Europe don't have much skyscrapers because its economy is mostly inustrialized.

High rises are concentrated in city centers anyway, leaving the countryside free of the hustle and bustle that high rises symbolize. They both serve a purpose and one does not have to negate the other. I think high rises are built out of necessity and not just symbolic of an advancing economy. There's always room for improvement either way.
