Born in Romania in 1971, Gheorghe Muresan grew to be the tallest NBA player ever. Standing at 7 feet and 7 and a half inches, Muresan is half an inch taller than Manute Bol, another former NBA legend. Unlike Bol, Muresan was far more productive on the court, and equally interesting off it, and fans and media flocked to see a person of his stature in action. Me and my sis did a basketball camp with this guy and he was the perfect coach. He challenged us a lot even though we were kids at the time but he was super encouraging especially when my sister would get discouraged sometimes and helped us find our best selves. Hope I get to talk to him again soon lol

I saw this guy in person. During the off season, the Washington Bullets played the New York Knicks in St. Louis at a pre-season game in Kiel Center. My dad said, "He looks like Lurch from Adams Family", and the entire section loved it. He didn't have to jump to dunk the basketball.

I'm taking a nutrition class right now with his wife. I didn't even realize who her husband was until she casually mentioned she moved because her husband got drafted to the NBA. I immediately looked him up and my jaw is still on the floor. Muresan put up hella respectable numbers for the Wizards! 14.5 PPG / 9.6 Rebounds / 2.26 blocks / 58.4% fg in 95-96 season. What a beast!

A short story... I am from Greece ....in summer of 2007, I was on board of a small ferry , on a brief route (4,5 miles) to and from the island of Evia. There were just a few people on board . At a certain point, I see two kids going to the caffe' of the ferry, alongside their mom....a very cute lady that to my eyes seemed easily taller than me (I stand on 1,85m). Having nothing better to do, I tried to look for her husband, being simply curious to see how tall should be the man of that woman. Her husband was actually Muresan!! They obviously were on family vacation .The man could not stand on his feet correctly in the internal spaces of the ferry, because the roof wasn't high enough! Exit through the doors to the external deck...was a real problem. Then I saw him driving his car, a Mercedes klasse E station wagon , that is not what you call ... a small car (at least for european standards) . Now...he could barely find enough space on the driver's seat , in order to drive properly. His knees were almost at the level of the window. A totally respectable athlete!! (Check out Constatin Popa,also.... another Romanian former bb player who also played and worked as a coach in USA and stands on 2,21m)
