Brilliant adventure. Excellent video. I'm amazed at how well your boards took all the abuse when you were crossing obstacles. Looking forward to your next adventure.

Great adventure. This has got me looking forward to my mini adventure exploring from Notter Bridge. I'd love to see more of this type of video. I've gone down the Erme from Flete Estate which was a lot of fun. Took me a couple of hours but it was only my second time on a board lol. I'd been down before in a kayak, so knew roughly what to expect. Keep up the good work ✌️

props for putting in above Lower Tamar lake, not much better than a ditch up there! What were the guages reading when you did it? Looking to canoe it, wondering how far above Launceston would be doable (without continuous portages round strainers)? I'm guessing season is Oct-Mar, and access points can be a 'mare.

The trip was on 8th Nov 21, river heights were: gunnislake 0.95, Graystone bridge 0.55 And polson 0.8. It was key to do the trip in the winter to ensure we could paddle. Loads of data available here: riverlevels.uk/river-tamar-bradstone-greystone-bridge We did several trips counting out conditions and comparing to the river height data before.... Cheers, Will - SUPboarder Team

Great video and adventure. Do you think you could have done it on just one board, like a touring board or would that have made the early part and white water too challenging?
@SUPboardermag2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ian - would have been hard to do on just one board....it would need to be a iSUP capable of white water.. a touring board would have been too challenging on some of the smaller river and moving water sections. The smaller board would make the last section much slower! Cheers, Will

Late to the party i know, but its pronounced coat-heel. The tamar valley is my home stomping ground as a kid. Ive seen most of it and always dreamed of goin the whole way, im amazed how rough the river is now with trees and erosion, some scary bits missing from the bridges too.

What paddle, SUP , PFD and drysuit do you use..?
@SUPboardermag2 жыл бұрын
Hey Stacy. Will was using a palm palmequipmenteurope.com/gb/whitewater-suits/64-378-cascade-suit#/34-size-s/61-colour-flamejet_grey . Its a top end suit but it can take a real beating. The amount of trees and brambles he had to go through lol. Thanks Reuben

Presumed you were unaware that there is no right of navigation on any river in the Tamar catchment upstream of Gunnislake? Presumably therefore individual landowner permission granted along the whole route otherwise this qualifies as trespass. Sorry about that.
@SUPboardermag2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alan, thanks for your comment. We did a lot of research on 'right of navigation' and the rules of who owns the water in the river that we paddle on is not completely clear . Certainly areas can be interpreted in different ways. We certainly think this is an area that needs clarification by governing bodies/ other authorities.

I know we are all meant to suffer from short attention spans these days. Is that why some vid makers feel obliged to fill every spare second with Muzak?

Thanks for your comment - we wanted to try and share the experiences and moods at times of the trip through camera and music. Music can really help to set the scene, but I guess it can always be muted if its not to your taste :) Cheers, Will

@@SUPboardermag Apologies if l came across as a moaner. It’s totally subjective and my problem. I just started paddle boarding last month and it was your excellent 4 part vlog of the Great Glen Canoe Trail that inspired me to follow in your paddle strokes. Solo, like you, l set off from Corpach at 0630 on Saturday past and made 27(ish) miles to camp at Kytra Lock just south of Fort Augustus by teatime. Sunday saw me to the top end of Loch Ness but was forced onto the beach near Dores by the increasing SW wind and waves. Camped there. Next morning the wind had gone and it was a sunny 11 miles to journey’s end in Inverness by 1000hrs. So thanks for the inspiration. Oh and the tip about a plastic lid covered in tinfoil over the mess tin - worked a treat. 👍🏻
