This was my very first computer back in 1987, I believe it was. Lots of great memories learning MS/DOS, Q&A database, later Alpha 4 database, then Quattro Pro spreadsheet, to name a few, on this fantastic machine.

My first "Real PC" was the TX1000 model. Sierra's Kings Quest and Prince of persia on 5.25 floppy's. Oh when I got the 30MB drive for $300.00 I was so happy I would never have to upgrade again!!!

The 1000 TX is my favourite of the 1000s. Very classic machine, in my opinion. The memory error might be fixed by removing and reseating all the RAM chips.

That is the next step we are planning on taking.

That's the video I want to see. These show and tell videos are OK and seem well made but are a little dry.

I rescued a 1000tx from the dump. First MS-dos comp I had. Great machine. I wish I still had it. I had Wordperfect 5.1, Wordstar, and PFS: First Choice on the 20 meg hd. Next to my CoCo 3, this is favourite. It was from our local High School.

I bought one of these as my first PC. I had a II+ and this was half the price. I installed all the upgrades I could and it approached $2000 after HD, RAM, Mathco, clock, modem.

My 1st “real” PC (after my TI 99-4A). I saved up for the 20mb hard card. The wife and I learned WordPerfect and Lotus 123 on it. Great machine!

That's pretty sweet! It was a great system for productivity

Had this one as well. I remember playing leisure suit larry and the land of the lounge lizards, police quest, various early king's quest and space quest games ( I was a huge sierra games fan, later in life I actually worked for sierra in Seattle)

Likely just bad chips, but since the T1000TX could support a couple of different memory configs, check to be sure that jumper E9-E10 is on. The default config was 640k with 128k reserved for video. Looks to me like that's what you have installed. Adding 4 of the 64k chips bumped it up to 768k total, leaving 640k after the 128k video was reserved. You can find 64kx4 150ns chips online pretty cheaply. If you do install the 4 extra chips, open E9-E10. Good luck!

Not bad, but for a 286 class machine I'd want it to have Tandy graphics II and the DAC they added alongside the 8912 sound chip.

I never had a Tandy 1000. My first PC was a 286 12MHz AT clone however.

My first system. Was moderately OK but became really painful to be without the world of VGA stuff and 386.

It absolutely did NOT come with the 287 co-processor. That was a very expensive option at an additional $399.

I am not really a fan of the jacks and volume knob being inset on the front. I like the Tandy 1000 SL/TL style case better.

Being in the front is not bad, but what about being inset?
