Once upon a time, many editions ago, the Pathfinders were supposed to fill the role of stealth infantry, how scouts are supposed to be stealth infantry for Space Marines. When GW decided that marker lights were the way to play Tau they became fleshy marker light generators.

I want the REAL Tau Auxiliaries. Like, all minor Xeno races. Hell, it would be nice to have even Kill Team like unit with some cool aliens, think Gellerpox but weirder.

This was super interesting and the model was great! There used to be a smaller xv15 (its in the cgi short film) stealth suit, that was a precursor to the xv25, but that model was discontinued. This was a different take and was fun to see

Maybe people might disagree, but i feel like something Tau are missing is their Auxiliaries, yes we have Kroot and Vespid, but we need some form of militia made up of humans and whatever else aliens that serve the Tau empire. For an empire which is supposed to be inclusive of many alien races which all strive to spread out into the galaxy, we don't really get to see that in model form

@@WhatareyouPaintingnow it's interesting you guys both picked up on Kroot looking so much different than the Tau, their equipment looks primitive compared to the rest of the Tau, this is because Kroot do not serve the Tau, the Kroot consider the Tau brothers, equals, but they still view themselves independent and will still be mercenaries for other aliens. Whereas something like the Vespid have Tau tech, because in their lore they're a race who have a hive-like societal model, and the Tau earth caste made a device which "translates" their language into Tau, but it might also brainwash their leadership so the rest of the drones follow, notice only the leaders of Vespid wear that helmet

I had hoped there’d eventually have a Shadow Caste. One made up of different castes, but using all their talents towards sabotage, assassination, and other forms of espionage.

nice use of clear resin. I never fought to use clear resin to make "camouflage off effect". Now I want to do it for myself. Another thing You mention is that Tau Stealth Suits are bulky and big, and I fully agree with that, but they weren't that always. First they were XV15 (modern is XV25), that was standard infantry with some additional stuff, and for me they worked better. it's one of many GW "downgrade by update" cases.

@WhatareyouPaintingnow WARSURGE has a channel they have posted a few how to play guides. Their quick start rules from their site and the app are all you need. No bigger hobbie youtubers like yall have covered it as far as I know, which is a travesty. It really deserves the attention, IMO.

If I may make a suggestion. If you look at the original pewter tau stealth suits aka the XV15 stealth suits that would make for a better Tau stealth themed infantry

10:30 I think you're right about an infiltrator infantry unit, they should be a very light and fast unit and go behind the enemy lines. So they need a jetpack backpack, without backpack they are as slow as the standard infantry but without ammo/tool storage and without communication system, it's not good when you are alone behind the enemy 😅 For me the biggest missing unit is anti-heavy monster/vehicule for the kroots, GW should bring back an updated Great Knarlok

@WhatareyouPaintingnow but they could have the cameras wherever and improve the shape Like the stormsurge, it has a ball T'au logo in the center where you expect the pilots eye level, next to that is maybe a camera and some lights, then up on his left shoulder there's another camera, then there's an articulated head buried into the top, but that thing can't see shit because it's recessed into a pit that forms a gorget around it and a pillar in front of it that has the logo I mentioned and what looks to be a eye slit (I guess for when the pilot can't see through the head camera)definitely can't see a thing past the rail gun on his right or the raised gorget on his left, dude has like 40° of vision I wish they would take the titanfall approach and if the pilots head isn't there, you don't need a robot head to replace it, they could fix the stormsurge by turning the top into a hatch and putting the main eye in the ball I don't mind the ghost keel, it's head looks in proportion and there's probably a guy with his head there, but for every one that makes sense, like the stealth suit or ghost keel there's two that just don't like the riptide, broadside, crisis battles it's or the creme de la creme of bad little pointless heads, the stormsurge The stormsurge shape really should be a box that reads as utilitarian with that pillar shape in the middle (which I believe they try to emphasise by having the hanging doohickey over the robot crotch) to read as stable and in place, I think if they just connected the pillar at the front to the tower behind the head it would emphasise that this thing wants to be placed somewhere it can rain down hellfire on everything with a pulse and not move until there's nothing in the missile racks and the rail gun is running dry, you could keep emphesing this by mounting the rail gun under the arm instead of the shoulder but I think the shoulder mount is a reference to rocket launcher type weapons from the real world so I'm not sure it's worth the trade off

yeah they do need something stealthy, I know that the FarSight Enclave is good at melee. Tau as a whole are interesting bunch.
