Cawl used a similar device for his Primaris as Corax used for his failed Raptor Space Marines. Both containers contained the Primarchs' original Gene Seed and it is precisely this element that makes the Marines so "special". Additionally, part of him was one of the original researchers from the Primarch Project. So it's self-explanatory why he was able to improve Marines.

I added some content, which may look repetitive. I like Iron Hands, but I think they are too monotonous and ruthless. I like the humanity and animal decorations of the Salamanders. At the same time, I like the setting of the Iron Hands' genetically enhanced people and mechanically enhanced people. Perhaps it is because of the sympathy for the regret, anger and pain of the Iron Hands for losing their genetic father in the setting. I finally think that Iron Hands is my favorite. In my imagination, each warrior of Iron Hands should be equipped with a large number of universal mechanical prostheses to quickly help mortals recover their mobility. And additionally wear other weapons as highly adaptable warriors (it seems that in the story, the highly mechanically enhanced terminator of Iron Hands can use a terminator's heavy firearms in both hands). In my imagination, Iron Hands should make up for Ferrus' fatal mistake and become more humane and resilient, instead of self-harming and ignoring the lives of mortals and other Space Marines in the name of eliminating weakness. Regarding the setting of the Iron Hands cutting off limbs and replacing them with iron prostheses, I would like to add something (of course, not all of them are correct): Because the Iron Hands need advanced mechanical and medical technology to transplant prostheses, the Iron Hands' training method is very...bloody from the beginning. As long as the brain is not damaged, losing arms, legs, throats and other organs is not a big problem. This leads to a very direct combat process for the Iron Hands, coupled with the high level of mechanical enhancement technology on their bodies. If the Iron Hands calculate that they can cause higher damage to the opponent (or even kill the opponent directly) by not dodging the opponent's attack in battle, then they will do so. The biochemical technology of the human empire is enough to clone the limbs needed by the space marines, and the reason why the Iron Hands rely more on mechanical bionic technology: in addition to the belief that flesh is weak and machinery is stronger, including the ability to return to the battlefield faster, it is more convenient to repair and replace in the later stage, which also prompts the Iron Hands to prefer mechanical prostheses. The Mechanicus' understanding of physical transformation is that replacing with mechanical prostheses can get closer to Omnissia. The physical transformation of Iron Hands is that mechanical prostheses are stronger and more "rational" (not controlled by emotions). Fulgrim gave Ferrus Manus a nickname called Gorgon. In addition, Fulgrim's nickname is Phoenix. If you consider that Fulgrim later became a four-armed snake-bodied demon, and there is a view that Ferrus became a member of the Legion of the Damned after his death (that is, his body was wrapped in flames). It is still a very subtle pair. I don't like the black and iron color scheme of Iron Hands, because black, iron, silver, and white look like sketches. Later, I looked at a lot of pictures of cyborgs in the cyberpunk world view and found that some cyborg prostheses are not metal-colored, but flesh-colored similar to the body. I had an idea: since it is IRON HANDS, can the color scheme of some limb armor be changed to flesh-colored, and then iron-colored patterns be painted on each joint. To represent the "iron" hand. (But it doesn't seem to be in line with the Iron Hands' creed of the fragility of flesh and blood). Later, I learned that there is a special steel called weathering steel, so I thought of another idea. Ordinary iron becomes very brittle after oxidation, but it forms a dense and stable oxide protective film after oxidation, and its color is ochre red. So maybe the main part of the body is black, and some limbs are red, but this idea also feels very similar to other warbands. (Even like the robot color scheme in Helldivers 2), and a bit like Autek Mor's Red Talons. I really like the final redesign in the video. As the "descendant of Gorgon", Iron Hand does not have many "snake heads", that is, mechanical tendrils, which is really strange. I first saw the setting that the human empire prohibits the use of artificial intelligence and uses mechanical servants with modified brains, and then I saw the setting of the "servo-skull". This led me to always think that there was a modified brain inside the servo-skull. (I later learned that the human empire has something similar to a computer. And the servo-skull is actually a drone with a skull shell). So I've thought about adding a lot of skulls to the Iron Hands armor or hanging a few heads on the body to "assist in calculations", and then painting finger-like patterns on the leg armor, which is a bit like the arrows of the Chaos Eight-pointed Star. This can make the Iron Hands look like the most Chaos-like team among the loyalists.

I mean the Raven guard have the gene seed defect where they get depressed, like a more emo version of the Black Rage, so I dunno if they need visions. I liked this Episode but I wish we had focused more on the raven skulls and feather fetishes that they carry and how that relates to the culture of the raven guard and what that represents. They all have to stalk and kill a raven with their bare hands in order to graduate, and carry the skull of said raven on their armor. I really like the raven guard but agree that they're a hard chapter to design as they really don't want to be fancy or look interesting. They actually don't have their higher ranks look nicer on purpose so the enemy can't pick them out, which is a very pragmatic idea but also boring from a design standpoint.

Why do some people believe that Guilliman wanted to build a legion with the Primaris? That's so silly. If that had been the intention, he would not have commissioned Marines to all 9 (20) legions. After all, just having Ultra Marines would make such a goal easier to accomplish... He is probably the "best" primary. And that comes from a Chaos player.

@@WhatareyouPaintingnow You can believe that. But the facts don't say so. With pure Ultra Marines, he wouldn't have to worry about the loyalty of the Marines. Additionally, everything that happened in 40k speaks against it. After all, he divided his "Legion" quite quickly, sharing the technology to create Primaris and supplying new troops even to critics such as the Space Wolves. And he killed only those high lords (after clear warnungs), that tried to kill him. Yes, Gulliman sits at the head of the empire. And he couldn't imagine a worse fate. He doesn't really have a better option.

53:54 I want to make a quick correction to a very common misconception about Corvus and his "Daemon" form. In the novel "Shadows of the Past" where Corvus makes an appearance to beat the living hell out of Lorgar for a second time, he is never described as a Daemon, it's even mentioned that Lorgar could not see a Daemon "I see no Daemon" and "This is no Daemon", meaning whatever Corvus has become, is some kind of Warp-based entity, but not a Daemon, it's often just called his "Warp Form" instead. There is a theory that the Primarchs all contain the essences of lesser Chaos Gods that were either coaxed by The Emperor or taken by him when he went to Molech and given a body in a similar sense to the C'tan being given bodies by the Necrontyr, Corvus seems to be partially aware of some kind of link between the Primarchs and the Warp as he says "I am what I always have been,' said Corax. 'I am vengeance incarnate. I am justice delivered. This place, beyond the veil, has revealed what we all are. Underneath the veneer of humanity our father crafted for us, we are of the warp", considering it seems likely that Corvus was the only one who knew of the Warp and Chaos before the Heresy, having been told about them by Big E. Corvus is a pretty cool character in 40k, he might not be a popular as Guilliman or the Lion and I doubt he ever will be, but his additional lore as a warp being (something I hope GW builds off of and doesn't retcon it if they haven't already) makes him more unique, especially if he was to return in future, Nykona Sharrowkyn is a pretty great Raven Guard as well, the guy was ready to square up to Alpharius with no hesitation and he almost ended Fulgrim with a Needler Rifle (Not the one from Halo). Plus it was Nykona who ensured Belisaurius Cawl could receive the Magna Mater, which was used to create the Primaris Marines, whether that was a good or a bad thing is up for personal interpretation.

Regarding the lore redesign; what Cal described seems more appropriate to me for the Night Lords if they... You know... Remained loyal? Like, the idea of a monster in the dark that actually protects you - personally, it evokes associations with Batman. And Curze, as we know, is in many ways a subversion of the Batman image. Well, plus these psychic visions, as Cal described - that's what Curze was famous for. As was Sanguinius, by the way. So, if desired, something like that could be given to the Blood Angels. But there is no longer a "monster in the dark" - there is more of a symbolic image of a guardian angel. Well... Like... LITERALLY. You are in danger - but an ANGEL is assigned to you to protect you.

I feel like for the modern design going more professional soldier/tacticool would give the intended vibe better than the ornate gold and feathers. One of the main reasons Corvus earns the Emperor’s trust is that, unlike Angron, he is above *all things* practical. Raven guard don’t wear dress uniforms, they in-lore modify their armor deployment-to-deployment depending on what would best suit the circumstances…. … but this is 40k. So how do you take this idea over-the-top? Well, we already have a crazy over-the-top sleek professional military aesthetic that straddles the cringe-taste line - TACTICOOL.

Speaking of stealth. I'm really curious why such a secretive legion has a raven as its symbol, and not, for example, an owl. Owls are much more stealthy than ravens! They fly at night, they hunt in the dark, and OH MY GOD, how QUIETLY they fly! Owls are literally silent in flight - literally everything about their flight is designed to make it as quiet as possible.
@WhatareyouPaintingnow

You are right on that, but when it comes to symbols and logos we have to remember that people understand those by associations, people don't immediately associate owls with silent flying when they see a symbol of an owl but think knowledge that's why a lot of publishers or learning apps will use owls as their symbol. ravens and crows are more associated with bad omens and impending doom and with their colour scheme it matches their shadow like theme. By the way, about the connection between the Raven Guard and the "corvus" armour - this connection was played out quite amusingly in one of the books on the Horus Heresy. It shows a moment where new armour was delivered to the legion - and some captain starts to get indignant - "Are they kidding me? We already have a raven on our emblem, everything that can be painted is painted with ravens, everything that can be renamed is named after ravens - and now they've brought us new armour WITH BEAKS?" Fortunately, he was later explained that this armour is not exclusive to them, but that many others now have these "beaky" helmets.
