JR Jr. has the opposite time dilation problem from a stoner. He says a couple minutes and it's like 20. That engine pull should only take a couple hours, three days later...but that's what makes this channel a fun place.

More impressive is how Sr takes the time to go over everything. The best people take the time to explain and mentor others. He spent more time explaining the ice cream machine than my father did in his life of telling me anything. JR is blessed to have Sr and so are we.

The boy is a complete ignoramus. He thinks everything was invented last week or something. It's fine that he doesn't know stuff, it's that he runs his mouth about stuff he knows nothing about. There was automated tool making in the 1930s. There was fully automated machining in the 1930s. You can literally watch 10 cast iron blocks being machined (to very close tolerances) in a ford or GM factory in the 30s right here on youtube. Most manufacturing is probably to lesser tolerances today (though the tightests are today). Just look at all the junk we get out of China with 1/4 inch or more tolerances. Parts that don't fit together.

@@chipb1193 Ice Cones! I believe they sell some sugar free flavorings too. Also, common in Asia, is a steel framed ice shaver that shaves ice with a blade. They make nice and fluffy shaved ice compared to today's countertop cube ice shavers. They take whole blocks of ice.

I love the dynamics of Father and Son... the connection, the bond, it is a love of understanding equipment, its function, operation, repair, and tools the tools that make it happen, a truly shared passion. I shared a similar experience with my Dad. When he was fighting leukemia and sorting out, giving away, all his worldly possesions, I asked him what he hated to part with most... "my tools" he said... golf clubs, cars, fishing and hunting gear, all the other stuff was junk, but it was his tools that he appreciated most and that he understood how to use them, something that too many did not understand nor appreciate, his tools were his most important treasure and something we shared. Enjoy your time with your Dad JR! It is very special, a bond like no other... THANK YOU! for sharing such an important part of your life. Craig Now about that ICE CREAM.... LOL

When your dad said dq metal ice cream cans I knew exactly what they were. My folks owned dq's in TX 60s-80s and their first store was an old walkup store so in addition to using for cleaning machine they also made buckets of slush that was hand dipped from them. Very cool listening to explanation of what it takes to make the 1947 machine work. Great job y'all.

Awesome video with your Dad. I was an air conditioning/ refrigeration tech in The Navy in the 80's, our ship was built in the 1940s...our main refrigeration system had (3) v style compressors that looked like small V-6 engines with belt drives..worked great 👍. The ice cream machines we had were later iterations, but finicky nonetheless.

Well it's from the paper documentation era, it's possible that the paperwork involving a machine disappeared over time for various reasons and Taylor may not have digitized it before it was lost or there's Documentation in their Achieves about it that they've not digitized into their corporate servers yet. When they realized you have a pristine version of one of their "Lost" Ice cream machines they might try to get it especially now they know it works. That's a highly valuable piece of historical kit.

That's how old VCRs died too. Sit for a while and the tiny 'belt' would take a shape. 13:30 Easy to replace, but there weren't any. A red solo cup weighs about 9 or 10 grams, close to 1/3 of an ounce if I recall.

I'm SO happy your dad called the LeakLock stuff Permatex for refrigerant. I have just always called RTV Permatex, that's just what it is to me (probably because that's what my dad kept in the shop so I knew it as the name brand), anyway I told my father in law I sealed up an old compressor that had rusted in they cylinders with Permatex after I cleaned it out and he said I don't know what Permatex is.. I was befuddled, knowing RTV as Permatex just like I call water pump pliers Channel Locks and locking pliers Vice Grips. Dunno I just thought RTV was also known as Permatex. Fun times!
