Let me add fuel… I’m a Brazilian Swiftie who bought tickets with T4F to attend the Lover Fest that was cancelled due to the pandemic. At the time, when the concert was cancelled, they REFUSED to return the money we had paid for the tickets. They gave us “credit” so we could attend other concerts of theirs in a years time… DURING A PANDEMIC!! Thankfully Taylor decided to bring the eras tour here and we recovered that credit, but otherwise they would’ve kept our money. Don’t forget we’re a relatively poor country and tickets to this concert adds up to a monthly minimum wage… so… that’s greed for you

So, I'm Brazilian and let's talk about the victim... Ana Clara Benevides was from other state, not Rio, so the family was trying to get her b0dy back and the organization (T4F) did absolutely NOTHING to help, and this kind of stuff it's expensive. They only offered psychological treament for the parents. Again, THE FANS did a crowdfunding campaign in order to help the parents get their daughter back for a burial, and they got enough money because of the fans. Other things to add: - Her name was never mentioned in all 3 shows in Rio. - Taylor posted a letter saying she was not gonna talk about her because of the grief... - Fans did organized a tribute to Ana Clara Benevides during the last show in Rio, after a song (champagne problems) that it has a little pause (according to what the fans said) so they would use this time to do the tribute, but when the song was over coincidentally was rushed, didn't ocurred the pause as usual and they couldn't make it the tribute. It was like her team kept an eye and knew what the fans were preparing... - In Brazil, a movement began to implement the law Ana Clara Benevides "(...)law which provides for the mandatory provision of free drinking water and adequate structure at festivals, shows and events with gathering people" Note: Not saying AT ALL was Taylor fault, but idk, It looked like they pretended nothing happened wich is such a freaking cold thing to do.

The intentional rushing past the tribute was what really got to me. It was so unnecessary. How would that have hurt Taylor to let them pay their respects to a young woman whose life was cut short over straight up greed? That is evil to me, and the fans who can defend that really need to do some soul searching and develop a sense of humanity. I'm late to all of this but anyway- Outside drinks are a problem tho. They have no way of checking what's in your bottle. For all they know you could be bringing alcohol with you and distributing it to minors, or even acid for an attack. Outside drinks should not be allowed to events like these. @@KIxYOSHI2077 That is a fair point, and if it was guaranteed that there would be free access to safe water in a venue (without massive lines for drinking fountains, having to go up/down stairs to access it, or risk illness from unclean water), I’d have no problem filling an empty water bottle inside, but until I can count on that, I’m not going to risk my life because they don’t want someone smuggling vodka in AND don’t want to provide free access to safe water. In the meantime, they’re welcome to sniff my water, though 🤷‍♀️

It's well known that if you ask a criminal if they have something can't have or are going to do something bad they have to stop. I get it, keeping people safe is a priority, but this kind of fearmongering security theatre doesn't actually have any effect, other than enabling greedy ass companies to force you to pay exorbitant prices on things. I'd be willing to put good money on the fact that I could go to pretty much any concert and score booze and/or narcotics that were smuggled in. Look at the stats on the TSA, how much they actually help security at an airport, it's shockingly low. My partner was in the TSA for awhile, and for a year she was on the team that goes to airports with faux contraband to test their teams. The chance that she'd get flagged the first time were embarrassingly small. One airport she went through FIVE TIMES before being flagged, and she only got caught because she and the team lead at that airport knew each other and knew she was on that team! Even then the team lead had to watch their TSOs pass her through checkpoint before stepping in. I remember a day when venues would let you in with your own beverages, and they had to contend with those same "fears" back in the day. The compromise? Sealed containers only. Seemed to work just fine back then, there was no epidemic of underage alcoholism or mass acid splashings. Evil people will do evil things, and aren't going to abide by rules and laws, but that doesn't mean we should make the lives of average citizens worse under the guise of protecting them.

Oh jesus I almost died at an overcrowded convention I was vending at because they locked the only accessible exit, I got pushed against the door, fell, and stepped on. I got lucky I was spotted by a security guy who knew me and that I was disabled. He took me to the celebrity area to hide out until he could escort me back to my booth. After Astroworld I'm never going to a concert unless it's Britney Spears. Event organizers are some of the most braindead people I have ever met.

honestly, this is why i don't go to super large shows anymore. anything over 10k? absolutely not. and even then, i won't be near that many people unless it's a metal show. Metal shows are the ONLY ones i feel comfortable being on the general admission floor for, because it's just ingrained in the culture that if someone falls down, you pick them back up. you'll see people sharing and passing around water bottles in the mosh pit all the time, (doing that thing where they pour it into their mouth from above so no one actually touches the bottle with their mouth), venue staff is usually really good about passing out water a TON (cuz people need it when they're crowd surfing and moshing like crazy), and people are generally really good to each other and look out for each other. but for any show that's not a metal gig? nope, i'm getting a seat, cuz i don't trust other people to be cool.

I dont even know how concerts are in other parts of the world, but here in Brazil I've been going to concerts ever since I was 12 years old (I'm 27 now)... people ALWAYS faint! yes we've been having a terrible heatwave but Brazil is hot most of the time, not just during the summer or spring, and this didn't happen because of the heatwave. even at a normal temperature for us, a concert gets unbearibly hot. i've seen people faint in literally every show in a stadium i've been to. concert goers have been complaining about this monstruous rule of no water bottles allowed for decades, but a young girl had to die in a big pop star show for anyone to start caring about this. she's not the first person to die in a concert because of heat and no water, just the first to become international news !!! now politicians stepped in and ruled that people can get in with their own water and venues need to provide free water. the whole thing is just sick.. other types of events like raves have had free water since for ever, but huge companies that literally bring the world's biggest pop stars to brazil will save money every way they can.

That’s exactly why this disgusts me. I’m in Texas and the temperatures and climate is very much the same. That’s how it’s always been here for years and for most of the year. We don’t have seasons. We have extremely hot and humid and then freezing and wet. There’s no in between. It’s always the two extremes. But our concerts have always had free water placed everywhere that’s constantly full and people still faint and get dehydrated. Even with the dozen of medic tents and endless help, it happens. But this is insane. The greed of the company is obvious and this should have had a death or 2nd degree burns. And the blocked exits?! What have you heard about the gangs waiting outside the venues? What if I told y'all that Rio learned nothing and somebody else (young man this time) died because the venue (fully made of metal) failed to prepare for a lightning storm and then also failed to evacuate properly during the Wannabe Tour (a festival for us, the emos) and the guy got electrocuted? I went to the festival in São Paulo, we had our share of issues, specially related to food and water (it was a 12 hour festival and by the 5th or 6th hour mark both were almost completely gone and they did not have enough for everybody. Yeah, I went to the show in Bonn in Germany during one of the hottest days of the year and they handed out free water bottles there as well. Not everyone could get one from the workers, but a lot of people also showed solidarity and passed the bottles around to people who couldn‘t easily obtain them. Some very kind souls passed me a bottle after I asked for one because I also had my period that day. Probably saved me from passing out ngl

The Feb 2023 Harry Styles concert in Melbourne Australia was 36C/ 98F. Officials had banned any fans from camping / queuing prior to 9:00am for the 6:00 show, moved the fans that did queue after 9:00M into a nearby undercover venue, handed out water and provided sunscreen. The Merchandise Store opened early to allow purchase of t-shirts, hats etc. Everyone was happy, healthy and had a lot of fun together! 🎉 Thank you to the organisers of that show. 🇦🇺

I don't know how common it is but the arena I work at in Canada doesn't allow drinks but you can take an empty bottle. We have filtered water stations around the arena and you just fill them up.

Like the Lallapalooza festival in Chicago you can bring any type of water bottle they just make you uncap it and turn it upside down to show it has no liquid. This kind of thing is WAY TOO COMMON. I've work events and have had problems with the staff of the actual venue in the past on multiple occasions. Even attending concerts and events i've seen venues leave NO WAY for people to access free water and it end in multiple people leaving in ambulances but the venues act like it's no big deal. It should be completely illegal to deny water at large events. It can and will get extremely hot even when it's not necessarily hot outside just due to so many people being in close proximity. It makes me so angry that things like this happen. Before I started working events there was a concert I went to in new york during the winter where again ambulances were called for people, and the venue had ONE water fountain available to drink out of that my friend already knew about from being there a previous time, me and her had to really push the staff to be allowed access to that one water fountain because we were both dehydrated but she was so dehydrated she was starting to feel like she was gonna pass out and that was before the show even started. They had the water fountain just slightly past the area that they cut off fans being allowed to go to, obviously intentionally. If no one had spoken up about knowing it was there they probably would have just continued lying to people about there being no free water.

When you’re in a hot stadium with no access to water and it’s all closed off, then they have to be responsible for you. You kind of become like the child because you can’t care for yourself because you don’t have water you’re not allowed to bring water there is no water at all, so they could at least provide a lot of water for everybody because of how hot it was there and it’s not like it’s their fault there’s literally no water they’re not allowed to bring it. The tour is three hours long heat stroke is more common than you think.

I also am a chronic concert goer in a variety of places in Texas. I live in on of the most humid and hot part is it. Triple digits temperatures about 104F is average for about 4-8 months and have been in plenty of indoor/outdoor concerts and although none of them allow water, until this past two summers since astroworld in Houston (since I’m only a couple of hours away) they have always have massive water canteens EVERYWHERE, since as long as I can remember. Even theme parks. They’ve always kept them full and clean. I’ve been to and outdoor festival or few during the hottest part of the summer during droughts and records heats and have seen many pass out. But have also seen those people immediately get help from medics. I’ve also heard of concert goers who left early from the heat end up having to run and hide for their lives because arratas (I think I’m spelling that wrong, apologies) who are gangs, were waiting outside the venue to rob people at gun point. May hid in a Burger King and heard shots fired. There was no police or outdoor security and apparently it’s said by the people it seems planned bc the police and government are corrupt and it’s well known by natives. This is heartbreaking. Another astroworld but because of the greed of a country and promoter. The local media and public then started a hate campaign against Taylor saying she’s only “stopping the show bc she’s r*cist and hates their people”. Wtf?!

Ana Clara’s body only arrived in her family’s town (where she was gonna get buried) because the fans paid for the transportation. The family couldn’t afford it. Brazilian here. I don't know what went to T4F mind to do what they did in Rio de Janeiro, a place that is known for its high temperature, even though it's just spring. I live in the countryside of the São Paulo State, the border with the Rio de Janeiro State is 3 hours away from my city, my sister and I got so sick because of this heat wave, my sister fainted at school, public schools don't have air-conditioning system, especially a public school in a rural area in a countryside city, that also blocked the windows with metal plates to prevent robbery, and the fans that is a miracle if one of them works, I know that because is the same school that studied from 3° grade until I graduated high school. While I already have low blood pressure and low blood sugar, I was extremely dehydrated and I couldn't eat anything hot, I just didn't went to hospital, because my is a nurse. In my 24 years, I never saw a heat wave this bad. Outside of the stadium was almost 40°C, Taylor's team handled with this situation as they could, they tried to postpone the show, but T4F didn't allowed, Taylor almost fainted, she handed water for the fans. The show yesterday (Sunday) went a lot better, because it rained the whole, so the temperature dropped, but we could see that Taylor was not well, she was in verge of tears almost the whole show, she sang "Dance with our hands tied" because Ana's favourite album was Reputation, and then she sang "Bigger than the whole sky", she even changed the lyric to "Everything I touch, turns into ashes" or something like that, I was to busy crying to pay attention on the lyrics. She is probably blaming herself a lot, and I don't blame her at all for not wanting to talk about that at the show, she might not be ready talk about it yet, but she still have a whole week to do something. This is disgusting - no show or star is more important than a human being's health or air supply. When are we going to stop hyping this BS up and treat stars the way they deserve to be treated? Like a fucking human like the rest of us... It's stupid that there was a heat wave and they were being SO ELITE that they couldn't keep the ventilation open knowing they charge like 10$ per bottle of water. The music is good but it isn't life-changing -p going to a show and getting severely injured like this IS, however. Like people are suffering in the audience....that would ruin the whole experience and tbh this is all just ridiculous. Not Taylor's fault, but this has happened at so many shows and venues with different stars and I am so tired of this kind of stuff (stars and famous people) hyped up and charging 1000K for a ticket and then even having the chance to get injured, pass out and even die in the audience.

I think one thing people are overlooking a bit is that Taylor and her team are counting on any venue they attend to do their part - make sure its safe, clear emergency exits, etc etc and unfortunately, its only after something like this happens that they become aware that not every venue operates with the same integrity. Sucks for everyone all around. The friends and community for losing Ana. Of course, Ana, for being gone too soon. The family for losing their daughter. The fans for enduring such hellish conditions. Taylor and her team for having to deal with making massive decisions like postponing or going on. Taylor and her dancers and backup singers for having to perform in that heat with extra lights and costimes added. Her parents for now having to watch their daughter likely blame herself. And for Taylor herself, who Im sure carries some guilt, but was also helpless in the situation. Our eyes should mostly be turned to the VENUE operators. Closing the vents so people can't see?! Absolutely reckless. Also, apprehending her vehicles was insane. Many celebrities of her caliber have to take those kinds of safety precautions. Even more insane, and uncalled for, was the government "leaking" which hotel she was staying at. Which can also potentially put innocent workers and bystanders at risk! Call me crazy but it definitely looks like the city officials are trying to, not only shift the blame, but hoping to fine/penalize her outside of what is called for.

I still remember feeling so out of breath and effected by the heat of the two BTS concerts i went to because they were just so humid and hot in the summer kinds. One in NJ and one in CA both open stadium but that locked in feel you explained was there. Unimaginable how it must have been here but the pyrotechnics should have known better. I mean they did it at the BTS ones u went to and my asthmatic ass was like DEAR GOD least i have a mask on but fuckin hell, there needs to be some better planning and regulations going on. At the very least making water free would help SM. Both, i remember i barely ate the entire trips just to have enough money for water because it's the only thing that also soothes me when that tense chest thing happens due to anxiety of things or asthma. This i terrible to hear and i really hope things change.

Justice be done for Ana Clara Benevides!❤ AlthoughTaylor is not responsible for what happened (for sure the organizer, T4F, is the one to be blamed), Taylor's team probably had to make some sort of contract/agreement prior do the tour, and it was also their responsability to make sure everything would be exactly the way they wanted, because if ANYTHING goes wrong, it is Taylor's reputation that will be affected! That being said, brazilian fans are very disappointed, not because they think Taylor had any responsability, but because of how cold and insensitive Taylor was by not addressing the death of Ana at all! On her first concert after Ana's death, she did not mentioned Ana's name, and it's not clear if the "extra" song she sang on that same concert was a tribute to Ana. But Ana's memory definitely DESERVED MORE RESPECT AND LOVE!!! Today, almost a week later, Taylor is still silent and hasn't even said she feels SORRY for Ana's DEATH! People in Brazil are feeling really sad and confused by her silence, specially giving the fact that it is well known an american fan who fainted at one of Taylor's US concerts received all kinds of support, even from Taylor's mom. As for Ana's family, they didn't even had the money to pay for her body to be sent back from RJ to her city of residence. Brazilian swifties PAYED for that! It would have been nice if the family had received AT LEAST a word of kindess from Taylor's team or Taylor herself. Unfortunately, the U.S. media is doing everything in their power to "clean" Taylor's reputation for the things she didn't do, specially making up stories about a conversation between Taylor and Ana's family, but that never happened! I really hope Taylor don't leave Brazil without saying a single kind word about her fan who FRIED TO DEATH only to see her perform!!!!

If it was up to me I would recommend for artists to avoid bringing arena concerts around October - February specially if there's no designed seats which is, unfortunately, the norm. It's really hot and rains like A LOT. There's a so many thunderstorms around this time. The was one on November 3 in São Paulo that the power was out for over 24 hours (in privileged neighbourhoods). We need changes in how arena concerts happen. We need more shows with designed seats! specially when there's a change of these conditions... Even because when in the crowd standing up like this is, there is a tendency of not wanting to drink as much water as you should because if you go to the restroom, you loose your place and that's it, I know that there were people that even went with dippers there. And this alone is the start of a recipe for disaster! Put on top the heat wave and the restrict access to water... I think that as soon as we get into the venue we should be handed out a water bottle. A 500ml water bottle is sold in the supermarket for around 2 reais, while the 200ml was being sold for 10 reais... and not only that, fans were saying the water was hot, I saw a fan saying the when she drank it was hot and she threw a little bit on herself to cool off and it felt a little more fresh than that, I guess... I cannot imagine how it must have felt inside the stadium... Rio is a really hot city by it's own... with all the conditions there... the limited access to water and the ventilation exits being blocked... that is torture!

I think water should absolutely be free. One outdoor venue I visited had an empty bottle rule. You could bring in an empty and use their fill stations for water. I had two 32oz Nalgene bottles filled throughout the entire event for free. I thought this was such a great idea.

1:35 translating First time I went to the medical center the responsible lady told me I wasnt with any burn. On the second time I came back with bubbles and she complain with me because I was there again and she needed to speed up the line. The responsible doctor raised my leg so a woman could confirm the information to Taylor's security chief and said I was bruised, after I insisted he finally confirmed it was a burn. What are you trying to hide??? I'm like this due to lack of organization on the entrance. I paid expensive VIP tickets and we received this treatment only god knows yhe pain I felt on the hot iron. And my back are also burned.

Papp Laszlo Budapest Sportarena is the same, I was at a Simple Plan/Sum 41 show last fall. They closed the whole building and there were 3 bands performing (it was like a 5 hour thing) I was at front row but I had to leave the stage after Simple Plan to buy water. You can only buy water at 1 single place inside (!!!) I had to stand in line to buy water (for a stupidly high price) for like half on hour. I missed 7 songs from the Sum 41 setlist to get a freaking bottle of water. I felt so drained and sick that I ended up not even caring about Sum 41's performance as much as I would normally do. They should give out free water in the crowd at shows, it's a neccesity.

The emergency exits being closed was just baiting disaster. Liverpool, Sheffield and Nottingham in the UK are still mourning the (preventable) deaths of *97* football fans at Hillsborough when there were people being crushed due to crowd mismanagement and the attendees COULDNT GET OUT because there were too few turnstiles and panicked. Can you imagine if something, ANYTHING, had happened to make people try to leave at these concerts with the fire exits blocked? How many people could have died from being crushed?

137° shit i dont think it's ever gotten over here past 110. omg. thats insane. here in the us we have warped tour and they charge a 20oz water/gatoraid for anywhere 4-10$ they also take your caps so you cant refill it. i really feel water should be free. tickets are expensive enough let alone merchandise. i seen 2 people pass out due to dehydration and one person got really hurt in a mosh pit but who knows there could have been more who got dehydration because there wass 12 stages.

this is so terrifying.. i can't believe i never ended up hearing anything of this when it happened.. i went to a concert once when i was a teen, and, before the show even started, i had a panic attack and had to leave. this situation caused me to have homebound agoraphobia for the last 4 or so years. hearing that these people were essentially trapped in this venue..... i cant even comprehend what id have done in that situation.. i never even got all the way to my nosebleed seats before i had to leave during my experience.. i feel just horrible for those poor people and most especially the lady who lost her life...... this is a completely stupid and greedy situation and i hope there are lessons learned from this. they shouldnt have had to be learned at all in this way, its a basic necessity to have water and also A WAY TO GET OUT OF A SITUATION, regardless of any sort of heat wave or anything, things can happen at events like this where you just have to get out!!
