This was a massive rock radio hit in Canada when it was released in 1997. It's a catchy tune, but definitely not their best from that record. That award goes to Psychopomp.

one of my favs by them BUT FAR from their best song either. :) I've had the chance to party with Jeff Martin once after a show in Moncton NB and what a guy!

Tough call there. Emerald is a beautiful tune, Gyroscope is a banger, Army Ants too. The title track from this album is a great deep cut

Hey man, big tea party fan here - super cool you are reacting to this little known Canadian band! For songs - best one on this album is Psychopomp, but i'm not sure if it's your style (more of a mellow song). But it's awesome. For other songs, you can go old school from their first record to Save me, Sun Going Down (my fav from that album), Winter Solstice etc. Second album (you did a couple already), but the absolute BEST song off that one, and one of their BEST imo, is Drawing down the moon. Sister Awake and Correspondences are awesome too. The Transmission album is more of an industrial sound to it (this album), but has some good tracks. Their 4th album is where I kind of lost my love for them - but a killer song from that one is "the halcyon days". There is also their 5 track acoustic type album called Alhambra, which has a sick version of Turn the Lamp Down (best one IMO). Cheers

The remix of sister awake from fear factory and front line assembly helper Rhys fulber had inspired Jeff martin to make the next album after Alhambra have an industrial sound to it. Pyschopump may be soft but it's inspiration of a European travel to the death is very metal. I mean temptation by the metal band Nevermore and tea party respects and covers tool so tea party rocks out sometimes definitely but I think they just respect bands like AC DC, led Zeppelin, and iron maiden to really set the amps to 11.

Well, you summed it up. 1) That was the first single from the Transmission album. I think this was the obvious choice as a single for this one, since it is a quite easy/straight forward song. 2) This is my second least favorite from the album (my other least favorite being another single, Babylon , you get a pattern there... ). 3) Transmission, Alarum, Gyroscope, Emerald, Psychopomp, Release are all great songs from the same album. 4) Please do Walk With Me !!! :P

This was the new sound for Tea Party. Transmission, sister awake, the bazaar. are also great listens from this album. Keep up the reactions. Stay safe.

I was a fan of The Tea Party before Transmission, which was a bit of a departure for them. They had dabbled with synth stuff on Edges of Twilight, but took it a lot further on this album. It always felt to me like that opening set up the transition from the more eastern vibe they explored more heavily on previous albums to the more industrial sound on this album. In this sense, it makes more sense as an album opener than a song opener.

I am glad I found your channel. I must say of all the reaction video channels out there yours by far is the best. You're very detailed and in depth with your reactions and your music structure knowledge is impressive. Having said that, I think this song is the band's best song....lol. I just subscribed to your channel and I'm looking forward to more of your reaction videos. Take care David.

Saw them at the Calgary Stampede, I'd guess about 15 years ago. They were *great*! They always made me think of how Zeppelin would have sounded if Jim Morrison had been their vocalist.

@@HaphazardCartoon I don't agree... Fire In The Head really put them on the map. Then came Sister Awake and The Bazaar, which were not by any means "big hits", but were getting quite some commercial airtime back in the days. Temptation, Release and Babylon were quite huge at the moment also, but mainly Temptation : I wasn't even able to hear it anymore since it was playing so often.

This came out when I was in jr high. I played percussion in concert band. Before practice, we all wanted to play the Temptation beat on the kit, and of course it never sounded as good as in our heads. lol. Still, loved it. I guess the echo/tin can effect was deliberate for that industrial feel. Agree, not one of Tea Party's stronger songs, but a beloved hit nonetheless. I guess it's different having grown up with it. The music video goes really well with it. Good reaction/review points, as always, and very fair score!

Not necessarily my favourite tune by them. But I don't mind if either. It was a reasonably popular song here in Australia. But, more in an alternative rock context. Fire In The Head is probably their best known song here.

They had a hit 🎯 with the Tom lord alge's remix which was the basis for their music video which also charted on much music. So just the remix got the hit which served both of the radio hit and music video and selection in the much music big shiny tunes compilation release. This one doesn't have the sitar intro and is shorter at 2.24 minutes instead of the album's 3.26.

I believe the track has electronic drum pad so that's why his drum sound like they are in a box. Like army ants I know the album and live version sound Vastly different and the live version sounds much better - we sort of lucked out on the live version of army ants because the guys sound great together and they are more passionate in their delivery when it's live. Temptation is awesome live since they just use the solo opening to get the guitar tuned but sometimes they just play the song without it like at live music television events like much music or open mike late night. In bigger crowds, the guys don't sing temptation all the time, the fans do! Definitely would say it was a 7 live when I heard it in London's celebration of Canada's 150 and I recorded two songs. I learned that night that Joni Mitchell was a guy - he was playing before tea party closed out the night. They played army ants too which is still fun but as I had said, it's just 0.2 plus live from it's album, at least imo.
