Senna gave him a driving lesson all 3 races and next two qualifiers Japan, Australia. I personally think hakkenin was a bit of a hype job a bit like Damon hill , Jaques Villeneuve, Lewis Hamilton, lions in the best machines kittens in not so great machines

@@amos686 true he was close Japanese grandprix just not Australia. All 3 races hakkinin didn't look in the same league as Senna though. Don't get me wrong I am a hakkenin fan. I just feel hill, hakkenin, Hamilton, Villeneuve, button they achieved very little in anything then the absolute best

@@speedmann194 oh i agree, senna never really had a bad season in all his 10 years in the sport. Even in 92 he should have been runner up.

At the time, I never really watched much open wheel racing. I just knew what everyone else knew. Mario's son was going to race Formula 1 and Mansell was jumping to CART. Next thing we all knew he was back racing Indy cars.

Hakkinin was a hype job. senna dominated him all 3 races and next two qualifiers. Took him 94-97 to win a single "race" that's too long in my opinion. I understand he had some unreliable cars. but they were reliable enough to finish over 40 race's 94-97 I counted them. So where was he ?? they were powerful machines definitely capable of many race wins. I think senna 93 5 race wins in a V8 when he was up against Renault v10s Schumacher 94 ford V8 and he demolished Williams v10s even once they introduced the b spec car at Germany if you count the points up Schumacher still dominated till the end of season Wikipedia has it wrong they say Williams b spec car lead the points once it was introduced. "They were wrong" I counted the points up and Schumacher still dominated the b spec car as well. And no it didn't have electronics, why would they have electronics in Schumacher's car and not the sister car ?? It would make more sense to have it on the weaker drivers car to bring them up to Schumacher's level. ( Chase the constructors) Further proof there was no electronics was Schumacher's first season with Ferrari he instantly beat benneton. So did Ferrari have electronics as-well?? It's obvious Schumacher senna were both the special software in every machine they ever drove

In all fairness Mika's Adelaide accident set him back a year, so 96 was a recovery of health and confidence. Then last lap failure whilst leading in earlier 97 race. The 94, 95 and 96 McLaren's were not race winners. I feel he presented when he needed and that was 98 and 99.

@@lawrencecauchi665 I believe they were capable of race wins . Like I said earlier they were reliable enough to finish over 40 races. And further to the point where was he wet races ?? I have no doubt senna, Schumacher would've made it shine far greater than Mika. It's nothing personal I like mika but I feel same as I do Lewis Hamilton they have only been truly great when they have truly great machine's, senna Schumacher have stood out driving very much inferior cars

@@speedmann194 with that sentiment your 100% correct, senna and Schumacher would extract more results from slower cars, especially in adverse conditions. However, in general, those two super heroes are once in a generation type drivers and I believe we all understand that. So my point is Mika's not overly hyped, he's a great driver who struck when his window of opportunity was there. Just like Mansell, Hamilton, Hill and even better example, Button. All are considered greats of the sport, just not in the category of Senna or Schumacher and possibly a couple more from before my era such as Clarke or Brabham possibly.
