Really like Brenton's subtle sense of humour in his episodes. Love The Repair Shop.

Had to check this show out after the Game Grumps mentioned it. They seem to be big fans. It is very relaxing.

company that made the mechanism is still in business. The name was shown in the programme. I would have given them a phone call at the very least

Looks to me like a time and money issue, rather than a can't be done issue; anything clockwork can be fixed. Modern electrics is a different matter, but clockwork is not a problem. I refuse to believe a clockmaker cannot fix a clockwork mechanism, so it must be a time and money issue.

Why would you think that metric sockets would be appropriate? Wouldn't something British of that vintage use SAE?
@bubbayesmar4 жыл бұрын
More than likely British Standard Whitworth instead ...

Seeing that it now takes 20p to use it, it might well have been updated back in the early 80’s and a damaged bolt replaced with a metric one.

Its also why every socket set 14mm 16mm never a 15mm. I tend to use the side drive sockets that hold the flats.

Graham Walters: I'm sure you've come across something you can't fix, namely maybe your attitude.
