Of course killing someone is wrong and she should receive punishment, but 25 years is Still too much, considering HE was the one tormenting her, grooming and abusing her. Why should she pay for it, give her best years away and then come out from prison middle aged, traumatized, no education and as a felon. How do you think the rest of her life will go? How do you see that being fair to someone who is a victim? She shouldve received a little bit lighter sentence..

Even 25 years is to much for this girl. Again the justice system does not take in the victims side. This girl has seen more sexual drama than any young women should ever see and it seems like this was totally ignored here. Some people may say 'report him' etc, etc but if you have never lived that situation, then it is so easy for you to sit back and think like that. Taking the life of the person who is controlling yours seems to be the best option to me, especially if like Sarah it isn't the first time. That poor girl. Hope she gets out sooner than later.

So sad, now she might spend the rest of her life in prison. As I do understand about being violated as a child and as a grown woman. And when you try to press charges, they either push it under the rug, or they blame you for what happened. Or as of him being a person of trust and involved with the church, they are the first to say "oooh he wouldn't do that, he's a good figure in the church. Just my personal experience. So I do understand, as it seems like she never got the help that she needed. And then to have your own home life, just as bad. And no I can't justify her behavior, however I do understand 😞.

This is definitely a case where I do think it’s a bit harsh. Because people like him who treat others like objects and do whatever they want with them on their time, are highly capable of killing. It doesn’t excuse her planning his murder. It very much a gray area for me. She was very much in danger when she was with him alone.

Sarah's sentence was much too harsh considering how she was manipulated by this disgusting Christian who changed the rules once she was of legal age. Calling and treating her like a daughter than the second she turned 18, what Hal did to Sarah was more heinous then his murder. Justifiable homicide in my book.

@@christopherbingham5092 you have your opinion and I have mine. I didn’t justify that she murdered; I EMPATHIZED for what she had been through. Also , I did not say anything about her childhood as well. I stated she had been through A LOT. I think you kind of came up with your own narrative to what I was saying….. nor did any of what I stated justify the murder itself. This story specifically highlights what she went through up until that point that is what I was speaking of ONLY. There is no justification for murder in this way , however some ppl relate to all the OTHER things she’s gone through in her life. Relating to one on that note is not wrong… did I end up in her exact shoes ? Absolutely not, but I have experienced some of the things she’s experienced. I was suggesting maybe getting her some HELP as well as whatever the state feels is necessary punishment.

The DA went through extraordinary efforts to hide most of her circumstances, and her horrific past, from the jury, to protect the reputation of this "man of god" r*pist scumbag. The one man she thought might be a sort of father to her turned out to be just as hideous as the men who had r*ped her in the past. The DA should be facing charges for obstructing justice, and she should be granted a retrial. This case is so wrong, on so many levels.

He threatened her with all gifts he bought her, the butt job that he demanded that she get plus the nose job that he also demanded that she did, Oh" because she wasn't really all that attractive and he wanted to change her into the barbie he wanted. He also kept note of every bit of money that he chose to spent on her and she was too young when she frist met him , remember he's the OWNER" to Ciciz" pizza he would treat her like a daughter even back then he once again took advantage of her living situation and troubles with her mom, she'd didnt understand that she didn't have to pay any of that back he kept her as a prisoner mentally and "YES I think she got way to much time for sure 8-10 yrs and with some Counseling I think she could do good in society. Remember she was scared he would get her drunk and raper over and over again and again. Remember he treated her like a daughter and proceeded to rape her after she turned 18 yrs of age! I believe she should have taken the stand in her defense. I think it would have helped.😢

That the prosecution pushes for the harshest possible punishment and exculpatory evidence is withheld is nothing new when you consider what you can learn about the justice system on the "Skip Intro" channel, for example (LAW & ORDER videos). Shes basically a child and he was grooming her way before she was 18, to make a girl trust you and feel like youre their guardian and father figure only to sexualize them the moment they turn 18 and turn around and manipulate the years of trust he had built is sickening. She definitely was a victim of domestic abuse, controlling her finances and making her feel like the only way she wouldnt be homeless was to put up with him and his actions.. belittling her and working her self esteem down to the point she thinks theres something wrong with HER and somehow needs surgery.. poor girl she was literally just a kid. The prosecutors who sought to protect the reputation of a 'good christian man' are the ones who should be jailed. Never trust those who make religion their whole life. They're horrifically divorced from reality, and their fairy tales give them all the justification they could want for the abuses they inflict on those who do not believe what they do. I feel sorry for Sarah having to go through all that in her life. And the things that Harold did to her were so evil and illegal. Harold was not a nice guy at all even though he appeared to be a nice guy all he wanted was young girls to prey on that's what he was doing with Sarah turning her into a dumb Barbie doll. And NO, she doesn't deserve a 50-year sentence or the 25 years sentence she has now. I mean come on! Look and listen to what she went through. If I were a judge, I would've taken Sarah's side and said. "She needs help and doesn't need to go to prison." I recommend her to a facility where she can get the help she needs and put her life back on track in later years. I know a lot of people would say murder is still murder but sometimes that's not always the case. If I were in Sarah's shoes, I would have tried to find a way to get out of this situation. Instead of killing Harold I would have recorded everything on a camera and exposed Harold's cruelness and evil to the world and then he would have been in prison instead. Plus, I know what it's like to be abused I was abused by my stepmom but not with violence but with words she was really good at manipulation. But that was years ago, and I do forgive her but never want to see or talk to her again. I believe you can always forgive but you can never forget.

The system doesn’t do anything for rapists. If you get sexually assaulted the criminal system says well do you have audio or video of the rape? No? Well then we can’t prosecute or take your claim seriously. This is traumatizing for the victims because they go to the police seeking help, but they tell you lack the evidence to prosecute. & even if your bring in evidence with blood stains after an attack. Their just like 🤷🏻‍♀️ not the proof required to prosecute. “How do I know it’s not your blood?” Basically very little is done to help tie the rapists to the rape. And a lot of women don’t even go to the police because they feel as if nothing will be done, which is the case 98% of the time. It’s very discriminated against the victims. & the women feel like the system is against them and it is. Which is why alot of women take justice into their own hands and end up killing the rapist it happens very often. She wouldn’t have killed him if the system actually prosecuted him but it didn’t and wouldn’t even if she went to the police. I blame the system, her harboring resentment towards the rapists is normal and ill will, that is normal. After everything he put her through her that would be the same feeling anyone would feel. That would be the sentiments of any sane individual.

She didn't 'revenged' her rapist. That doesn't even make sense. She got revenge on her rapist - what you wrote makes it sound like she got revenge for him or something. Now, yes, this guy is a piece of shit, and definitely deserves to be punished - and she had suffered a lot. But, she planned and executed a murder. Her history should provide mitigating factors, and the situation SHOULD have resulted in a lesser charge or a lesser sentence, but sometimes the law doesn't allow for that leeway. However, her sentence was halved, which is about as good as you can get in this type of situation. If she'd have had a proper trial that presented all the facts, who knows what would have happened?
