In one of covers Raphael's bandana is purple so main color is either red or purple (because on TMNT #1 4th edition (first ever colored image of all) cover ALL ninjas ie Shredder , Turtles and Foot wear red clothing only, and in 87 cartoon Shredder's and Foot's color is purple), which also fits considering that Eastman's favorite is Raph, while Laird's favorite is Don!
@FirstnameLastname-my7bz9 ай бұрын
Correction : Raphael's bandana is purple is on the 1985 cover of Raphael the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle where he and Casey Jones hold guns insted of melee weapons (it is just cool cover, but actually in original comics Turtles used guns sometimes , like in TMNT #5).

This was really just #1 and some of #2 issue, later on they go softer and more diverse towards each other in terms of personality, and I was even surprised that they don't even outright kill That much as I would expected. Of course there can be a fan headcanon theory that April softened them and humanized them more, but that's only assumptions at this point, unless there is Laird+Eastman+whoever worked on further issues opinion , and I mean collective opinion because it is clear that Laird and Eastman don't share one opinion,let alone other guys. You will see how #1 till #4 they have pointy noses, but after #5 they have more round noses. Also get this : there are 3 official versions of TMNT #1 in full color, by 1StFirst Comics (try libgеn, don't even google it), Mirage Comics and IDW Comics + The first ever colored image of Shredder and Foot ninjas And Turtles on 4th edition of TMNT #1 cover , and.... ALL 4 of these have either Shredder or Foot Ninja colored differently in different way. And 1StFirst (Shredder in all red, with naked muscles, Foot in Red top with black pants) and IDW versions (fully black Shredder with covered muscles and Foot are all black either) were made with Eastman and Eastman-only repsectively, while Mirage Comics (Shredder in all red with open muscles and Foot in all black) version was made with Laird-only. While 4th edition of TMNT #1 (Shredder in all red with open muscles, Foot in all red and Turtles have exactly same red bandana with green shells) was made when Eastman and Laird were completely together. Just as an example of creative differences.

You might like the 2003 animated series then. While it did change some things, it adapted a lot from the comics. For example, Karai first shows up in the City At War story arc, like in the comics, but reimagined as Shredder's adopted daughter, something the 2012 series would also do.

Reminds me of how The Mask movie from Jim Carrey also started out as a very dark and gritty comic series. My first exposure to The Mask was from the Jim Carrey movie, so I think it should be obvious how shocked and confused I was to learn how a PG-13 action comedy movie came from a very dark adult comic series. Not just that but how different it was. Just to name one example, the main character Stanley Ipkiss is not so lighthearted in the comic as he is in the movie. Heck, he doesn't even have that much screentime in the comics. Same thing with the TMNT. I find it fascinating yet a little confusing how they managed to turn something that was first a dark adult thing and turned into something more friendly for all ages. Sure, unlike the ninja turtles, The Mask was still a little mature even on the movie since it was PG-13, but it was not as bad as it was in the comic from what I saw.
