There was also the fact when they got to their destination there was a literal army & fortress they had to fight to claim in the name of the church then haul the spoils of war all the way back home/church. Luckily I don't think anyone was dumb enough to try and do a bandit raid with the crusaders on their way back. That's just asking for trouble.

To thee do we cry, exiled children of Eve; To thee do we send up our sighs, Mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. I often think how formidable the Templars must have been, as Knights each one would have been trained to kill from childhood, they could afford the best equipment and had the religious zeal to boot. Truly formidable warriors, stabbed in the back by a corrupt system. This is beautiful, thank you.
@randomestchannel Жыл бұрын
can I be filled in about how they were stabbed in the back? I want to learn more about the crusaders.
@the_lordofthedings Жыл бұрын
@@randomestchannel To my knowledge the order of the templars first formed in the high middle ages around 1100 A.D. with it's main purpose being the protection of pilgrims on their long road from their places of origin in and around Western Europe to Jerusalem in Palestine. Slowly but steadily over the years, the order gained influence in trade along the travel routes they originally just protected from raiders and pirates. Consequence of their initial purpose, the templars were always a military order to some degree, however their military power grew in unison with their financial and political influence, soon rivaling even worldly kingdoms such as France as well as the Papal States of Italy. Eventually I believe, they were becoming a threat to the established powers and a conspiracy formed, with the intention of shattering the order, claiming the riches it had accumulated over decades and centuries and ultimately hunting down, arresting and executing the templars. The smashing of the order was justified with accusations of sodomy, heresy and the likes. The grand master of the order as well as many of his brothers were forced to confess to these crimes under torture, after which they were executed. It is said, that the grand master ultimately invalidated his confession, before cursing the Pope and the French king with his dying breath. Interestingly, both of them died in the next 5 years. The order was officially dissolved in 1312 by Pope Clemens the 5th. This is a quick write up I did off the top of my head, therefore it may not be entirely accurate. You can read more about the Templars on Wikipedia. PS.: The Templars were just one, although the biggest and most famed, of many christian military orders of the middle ages. They're not synonymous with the crusades.

- As the men march through a moon lit forest, rain starts to fall, moods dampen as the road turns muddy. A horn bellows then a knights voice can be heard, echoing through the woods - As men of God, we march together... Knights, squires, priests and lords. We march together. United under the banner of God. No man is above another for we are brothers in arms in service of our lord and creator! Our enemy is also created by our lord even if they wont admit it! Treat them with respect and don't under estimate them, for they are cunning and brave just like everyone of you marching with me. This life is a test of each of our character, so leave a good record. For when we reach the gates of heaven we will all be judged! The road is long, wet and dangerous. Just how God intended it to be, for only in the face of adversity does our true character show. Hold yourself well brothers, help those in need, fight hard and keep a strong mind. Do not falter in the face of evil, show him you are strong and that you carry the power of God with each step and swing you take! Do this brothers and we will be victorious! In this life and the next! Never give up my brothers! For God will never give up on you! - The knight blows his horn twice more, then singing can be heard coming from the the front of the column. It spreads quickly down the line -

I was an atheist in the past, but thanks to a person who talked about God with me, using words different from the words everyone used to fight with me for being an atheist, I came to believe and realize the true presence of God in my life. That person talked about science, and when I said that God did not exist, the person told me that God does not need to exist, because it was God who created the concept of existence. God is infinitely beyond the laws of the universe and we are not able to understand the presence of God, but God is who he is, even though we, mere beings in the universe, are not able to understand this. I may not understand, but I feel the presence of God. I am infinitely grateful to the person who explained this to me, because he saved my life......

Amazing, I feel they’re presence and they’re energy as they march out and try to keep their spirits alive. I can feel the chill of the rain and the weight of the mud on their boots as they trudge through the mud.

As a muslim I find this beautiful and soothing. Yet I am also aware of our differences yet the past is in the past and I want to live in peace Christians, my Jewish friends. I believe we all will go to heaven in Gods gracious names. I do not feel we need violence but I do feel like we need love.

Ignore the other folks down there. The holy text preaches peace and peace is what the world desperately needs. I don't think god or however your religion would call him would mind if you were, jewish, catholic or muslim as long as you lived your life as a good person.

These men will go to heaven after the day of judgement along with the ayyubids and will praise God in all of his glory for they did not do it for themselves but for God in all of his glory and mercy. The image of a choir singing with the crusaders marching behind God as he comes to his throne and the angels sing is beautiful and cleans my soul
