The Tender Knob A Bourbon Fall Cocktail

Today on Booze On The Rocks, we make the Tender Knob cocktail. Created by H Joseph Ehrmann, it evokes Fall. Ehrmann is the owner of Elixir, one of the oldest continually operating taverns in San Francisco. The Apple and Bourbon work together with the cinnamon to give a slightly sweet cocktail with full depth of flavor. Try it out, and let me know what you think.

TENDER KNOB
1 Apple Slice
1.5 oz/45 ml Bourbon
2 oz/60 ml Hard Apple Cider
.75 oz/22.5 ml Agave Syrup
1 Pinch of Cinnamon
Method
1. Add all of the ingredients into a shaker tin.
2. If the Hard cider is carbonated stir the gas out.
3. Shake with ice for 10-15 seconds.
4. Fine strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
5. Garnish with an apple slice and some cinnamon.

Tender Nob is a neighborhood in San Francisco, making up the bordering area between the more distinct Tenderloin and Nob Hill districts, otherwise known as “Lower Nob Hill.” Sounds like a great fall drink, too.

The only place I am able to get the agave syrup is at independent grocer in my area, and I'm glad that they do. I bought a bottle of that four roses single barrel a year ago and I haven't opened it yet.

This sounds like a perfect opportunity to use your bourbon and try the agave syrup. You can also use the syrup in Margaritas.

I tried it and it was way too sweet, as in overpowering sweet. The flavors are there but next time I will use a 1/4 oz/7.5 ml Agave syrup and see if it is more balanced. Maybe even add a little Allspice Dram. You did gain a new subscriber.

Hey, I love your channel! Would you like try cocktail also with bourbon? Perfect for fall time. 45ml bourbon (I use Marker's Mark) 15ml strawberry syrup (I use Maison Routin 1883) 20ml lemon juice 20ml orange juice 4-5 physalis (6-7 if small) 12-15 needles of fresh rosemary How to make: option 1: put whole ingredients into a cup blender and then pour liquid into the shaker, shake with ice. Serve in chilled cocktail glass, use rosemary sprig as garnish option 2: muddle rosemary, physalis and syrup and then add rest of ingredients, shake with ice. Serve the same like option 1 :) Best wishes from Poland, cheers!

Amazing cocktail David. It is definitely fall time now, my favourite fall drink is the Savoy Tango originally from the Savoy cocktail book. My specs: 1.5 oz Calvados (or Apple Jack) 1.5 oz Sloe Gin (I use Sipsmith sloe gin) I just stir these with cubed ice in an old fashioned glass and garnish with a lemon twist and cinnamon stick. I’d love to know your thoughts on this. Thanks 🙏
