Love the uniqueness of this board and the innovative and high quality engineering of it here. I also happen to think I'd get a lot out of a southpaw configuration of the arrow cluster. Makes me think that there's a lot of room for southpaw TKLs; given how much I'm into 75s, that might end up being my favorite configuration. Anyway, spectacular review as usual. Love all the info you condense into such an easy to follow (and aesthetically pleasing) package.

Finally someone who actually mentions ISO options!!! it feels like most keyboard reviews seem to forget most of the people who will buy they keyboard in question and probably most of the people who will end up watching their videos about said keyboards are predominantly not from the US, even a lot of smaller manufacturers forget this too giving no ISO option but i guess is makes sense if you're only marketing to and shipping to the US! but the rest of the world (the UK, all of Europe, all of Asia, Australia etc) we all use ISO!

With all the insanely meticulous design choices here, I feel like the V2 (if they decide to make it) will improve on the sound and flex of the board. What you get right now is very cool in it's own right, but the sound might leave some folks wanting. Great video, as in-depth as always.

i cant remember who it was, but they talked to the creator/designer of the board and they wanted to reduce case ping as much as possible. so they basically reduced the cavity under the pcb as much as possible. that being said it does result in a more muted sound signature beacuse of this. i feel like any revision for an r2 that would drastically change this would also change the footprint or overall size of the board.

Doing design work I actually use arrows on both left and right side of the board. Currently have Caps+WASD for left side. As you mentioned to avoid taking your hand off the mouse but also using the right side arrow cluster for anything needing a combo of buttons+arrow keys.

It is baffling that the board sounds that much better in southpaw, but we take those. I think an aluminum or pom plate in this could really help with getting the sound there, pc is often just too neutral to really slap for me. But either way, this board is pretty cool. Price is...high for me but at the very least its something unique. Seems worth if budget allows. Great video homie, love the new space. Lighting particularly on the sound test was absolutely flawless

This kb in the left side arrow setup is awesome to see 🫠🥰👍. I personally loved the first audio check as I prefer heavily muted sound in my kbs’. I feel while a pricier kb …. With the screen and option to be left or right arrow sided gives this design sone uniqueness and justification for its pricing. I’d love to get one of these, but I already have a few kb that I already love, own and use regularly 😇🤯💕
@Zaapiel22
@Zaapiel22 2 жыл бұрын
I would have hoped that for that price point, there would have been more options to tweak typing feel out of the box. The Zoom 65 may not be an ambi-compatible layout, but having some flex cuts in a 1.2mm pcb seems like a no brainer above $200 right now. Then you can either leave foam and/or plates out for a slappy feel or stuff that trunk with foam for a stiffy.

I want this kind of reversible form factor in a TKL. Or just a friggin' lefty TKL. They kind of dumped the bed with omitting the F-row. I don't know why this is so popular to do, it's infuriating when otherwise great ideas are ruined by limited functionality that requires you to remove your right hand from the mouse. We need greater left hand functionality to catch up with the standard. I.E. board design to catch up with the times of modern use-cases. I had a 60% that wasn't annoying to use because I was able to reprogram the windows key to be the function key; and another with a split spacebar where one of the splits was function. It's just so much faster to be able to access that stuff with the hand that's almost always _already there_ haha

@@Unknown-sh2mz unfortunately minokeys shipping to the US is kinda brutal (starts at $15), but it is great to see them in stock, thanks for sharing! FWIW, have checked stock at like 4 different sites multiple times over the last 6 months, and have never seen them in stock. Damn I was super excited until I heard the price... question does it have a good warrantee? If the warrantee is lifetime the price is justified in my opinion. I have spent $150-$200 on keyboards where something burns out or stops working at about 1 1/2 years 'right outside the warranty period'..so if the warrantee is good might be an option for me
@Prism_JTN
@Prism_JTN 2 жыл бұрын
Custom Keyboard almost never have warranty. The people who make them aren't massive multi million dollar companies. Some are a single person and others are just a small group of people. Besides, PCB's very rarely stop working. The difference between a prebuilt keyboard breaking and a custom one is that our custom boards are made to be taken aparts and self-serviced. These boards also come with an option add extra parts such as PCB's. The real money lies in the case and weight. If you have never built a custom board I would stay away from this one. This is a pretty complicated board so if you concerned about the realibility of the product, there is a higher chance it would be user error before a manufacturing issue. That's my advice to you.

@@Prism_JTN I have 2 boards with burned out leds on them... maybe i am just bad luck with leds i dunno... no spills on either boards and multiple leds just stopped working on 2 separate boards after 1 1/2 years... so piece of mind if a led burned out i am just wondering if a free replacement board down the road is included in the price...granted I could resolder the leds but it's a pain with those tiny things with an iron. Editting my response... better question is their a custom shop out their that does warrantee their boards? Maybe??

@@yp-lo8op Sadly there is no such thing. The only two companies that could potentially do that is Keychron and Glorious. Bear in mind that per key RGB or ANY kind of RGB is extremely rare in the custom keyboard community. Is is pretty much only for those who don't know were each key is. Another big reason why there aren't many RGB boards is that ethusiasts, like myself, spend hundreds of dollars on keycaps and I dislike how per key RGB taints the color of the keys and even splashes to the side changing the Patone or RAL color that the original desginer painstackingly tried to perfect. I know because I have keycap designer friends. Also, there are a lot of opaque switches in the community which don't let much light through anyway. I am even going to put solid color switches on my Tenet70 when I get them. What I mean by all of this is first, don't get too deep into this hobby if RGB is very important or a neccecity for you and second, if you want complete replacement for a PCB due to a single LED burning out after a while. You can only replace PCB's if they come broken from factory. There are many that do so, however, many others have disclaimers in their pages saying that is wear is found on the PCB they will not replace it. Makes sense really. Imagine you made the Tenet70 and you sold 2000 units. You then buy 300 more for the extras sale and just in case some emergency happens. You ONLY have 2,300 units. You don't have the capacity to create a repair and replace system when it's just you and maybe 2-3 more people. There's just no gain for you otherwise. The hobby isn't big enough to make stuff like that happen. You will only maybe find stuff like that wil companies like Glorious or Keychron which are far more mainstream. It's a luxury hobby in the end.

@@Prism_JTN rgb is not an end all for me... when working after hours IT... I do use it sometimes with my monitor brightness turned way down to save the eyes... but honestly as bad of luck I have had with board mounted leds I am done with them... for someone who is dipping there toes into custom keyboards what is the best place to start for a 75%? I lubed my pre-built keyboard switches but feel custom hand made keycaps 'whixh i want' are a waste on a garbage pre-built. So looking at a good place to start... I can solder in switches. But would prefer drop ins to save time... so many different sites out their with different boards... decks... ect... no idea what is best and where to even start... to many options. I know the layout and switches I want but no idea on a form factor provider. Any site suggestions would help.

@@yp-lo8op The 75% form factor was introduced in late 2019 and properly took strength in 2020. Because of this, there aren't a plethora of 75% out there for the custom scene. I can totally recommend you the Keychron Q1 but only if you can properly do your research for modding that specific kit. Other than that specific kit, there really aren't any other good 75% kits our there in-stock. Pretty much a of the really nice 75%'s have been in GB or are going go be in GB. Examples are the Jelly Epoch, Gok 7V, Hope75, Bubble75, Aero75, Satisfaction75, E7-V2, Fuji75, among others. That's the state of 75%'s today. Other form factors have plenty more options.

Well, I will give an update on the software, it is horrible. Obinskit stopped working with the board so you have to use Hexacore Link and the monitoring basically sucks, as soon as you minimize the software and launch anything else, the monitoring will disable, when your computer goes to sleep and so does your keyboard with it, upon wake up the time in the oled will continue from the moment it went to sleep and the software will not update it until you restart the whole software. Not good enough for a board that costs over $500.
