Been a Yes fan since I was 5 and love all versions of the band 90125 is such a fantastic album it’s really a shame some Yes “purists” won’t give it its due. Changes is one of my top 10 songs ever! Trevor’s new album Rio is very solid effort. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

I love that album. I like all versions of “yes” though, mainly because I’m a bass player and love Chris’s playing.

In 50 years of listening, buying records, meeting other fans and attending concerts, I've yet to meet any of these supposed Yes "purists".

Was there when 90125 came out. It's a different kind of YES that I've always loved. The whole album is a masterpiece. "OUR SONG"is a song that rarely ever gets mentioned. I suggest getting in your car put it on turn it up to as loud as your car stereo will go and dump the clutch and get ready to scream down the road. It really is a driving song and speed song. I guarantee you won't be disappointed by "Our Song". Chris Squire is a beast on that song! RIP Chris and Alan.

I've been a Yes fan since "The Yes Album" (1971). I saw the 90125 tour in Los Angeles and the guys were in top form! "Hearts", "Changes", "City of Love", "Hold On", "Our Song", "Cinema" were perfectly executed unlike anything I've ever seen or heard before. Just pure, bad ass prog bliss! I'm so glad I got to see them for the last time. Trevor is an awesome guitarist, as well as Tony Kaye., Chris Squire (RIP), Jon Anderson, and Alan White on their instruments.

Same, since the Yes album. Love Trevor. Awesome uplifting music and musician. Never understood the but it's not prog or not Yes. That was always silly to me, and people's loss

I saw Yes during the 90125 Tour and it was amazing show. Loved the opening act, which was a Bugs Bunny and the Monster cartoon. They sounded better than most of the live acts at the time.

Eddie Jobson was very briefly in Yes and he’s the one that appears in a couple of milliseconds on the video. Quite a shame that that didn’t gel. He would have undoubtedly contributed very good things to the band.

Thank you John for bringing in the marvel that is Trevor Rabin, I say marvel because I find it fascinating how effectively Trevor and Jon worked together on Big Generator, Union, and especially Talk. I think it is clear that Talk was the height of their collaboration, and really it is a Magnificent Album. I would be interested to know how he and Jon composed the pieces on that album. And "Miracle of Life" from Union is a joyous anthem, where Trevor does show us where he stands, and why he and Jon united their vision.

I was quite fortunate to see Trevor play at The Paradise in Boston in support of his outstanding Can't Look Away album. I was only standing about 20 feet back center stage and both sound and performance were majestic.

I don't think 90125 was an FM kind of album. Maybe OOALH , but the album was kind of "fresh Yes", thanks to the genius of TH. It was a modern incarnation of their trademark progressive sound, with the addition of a supermusician/vocalist like Rabin. :)

Geffen had Rabin under contract for awhile and they couldn't find a project. They had him audition with Asia. That demo is on KZbin. It is weird to hear Rabin sing lead vocals and Wetton backing vocals. Geffen ended up releasing him from the contract. Trevor Rabin was going to front Cinema. Trevor Horn felt it wouldn't work. If you get the 90125 CD now they added all those as B sides. When they had Squire reach out to Anderson they changed it to Yes.

I watched a Jon Anderson interview where he explained how he re-wrote and put his stamp on the verses of “Owner.” He agreed that the choruses were already perfect.

I remember that tour, before the concert they played a half hour of cartoons. They couldn't come up with the name so I guess they used the catalog number

Of course he gets political. He's from South Africa. The history of that country lends to that. That aside, nice job. Enjoyed the video. Thanks you. Trevor is on a whole other level to everyone else.

As a youth was never a fan of Yes - I recall the outrage when “buggles” joined with my school friends - I really liked the Trevor Horn BIG sound and when 90125 came out (and that album sleeve ) I was in More so Big Generator then it went a bit off the rails. - somewhere on one of my drives I have copies of the early Cinema (pre JA) demos - not a million miles off the final album

I think Anderson contributed to the lyrics on an Owner of a Lonely Heart to make it more Yes ...changing the whole song meaning from Trevor's "don't say you wanna travel that way it is a one way ticket and it ain't gonna pay" to Jon's positive spin, "watch it now the eagle in the sky how he dances one and only."

I absolutely HATE hearing 90125 called the "biggest Yes album" when it was really just the most commercial Yes album - the compilation included in the triple live album "Yessongs" made it BY FAR the greatest Prog Rock album ever recorded. "90125?" nonsense
@AnthonyLee-Poet

90125 was their most Commercial album and although a good seller it was anything but their best album musically and in terms of what Yes was about musically isn't a patch on Fragile, Close To The Edge, Tales from Topographic Oceans, Relayer, Drama or Magnification. Rabin just sounds like he is whinging. It was his joining Yes that put him in the limelight and on the world change. The music he has composed since Yes is mostly Soundtracks and they are (again) very commercially well received But are more Pap than decent quality music.

Being a huge hit with Trevor Horn as a producer, that time is not musically as gifted as the 1971-74 period. By far. Still enjoyable!!

Any Yes fan knows Jon Anderson is not the pixie he appears. There's a good documentary on prog on the BBC, Bill Bruford talks about Jon bringing in some horrible melody and them saying they could improve it and him aggressively saying "go on then, do it". Every band has a guy who pushes things forward. Tony Banks in Genesis, Roger Waters in Floyd, Johnny Ramone in the Ramones. The story is Jon insisted on the eagle, so the special effect of Trevor was them 'shooting the eagle'. Prog definitely benefitted from the antagonism in the bands, or at least competitions. I"m almost positive that I saw a lyric sheet BEFORE Jon got at it, and then the final lyrics, and the original was very much kind of a banal lyric, much like, sorry to say, Trevor had on his first solo album.
