The final time up at The Tent for Deer Camp 2022 is all about the snow. Zach and I see fresh sign finally and lots of snow. Closing up The Tent for now and making sure it is ready for the upcoming winter trips.

It must be nice to have Zach helping out and doing the routine "Joe" jobs around the tent, however, you now have to find something else to do besides that! haha. No sir. Sitting in a cold stand does not look like fun to me. The Army kinda ruined being out in the field and freezing in the winter and burning up and being eaten alive by critters in the summer. Still fun to follow along on the journey though, especially as you get to hang out with your son and he wants to hang out with you.

I think the deer all migrated down to northern Indiana. I have had 2 doe eating my white oak acorns within 20 ft of my front door and every night we have anywhere between 20 up to 40 (literally close enough that I could count them) deer eating at the corn field behind my house. Too bad the farmer won't let us hunt on his land or else we could easily hit our limit.

I’ve been hunting in the same areas of British Columbia for 26 years, and this season was the first that I didn’t even see a single doe or cow moose…never mind what is legal for harvest. So I suspect that the wolf problem you are experiencing down there is also plaguing us north of the border. The province did a cull a few years ago but it just was not good enough. All things in nature come in cycles, and I suspect it will come full circle to where we are choosing one buck over another. Here’s to that!🤞

Last year here in Missouri, I'm pretty sure no one around here hunted deer cause we had so many eating the corn i put out. This year heard a lot of shooting and we have only seen a few deer. Usually I go through many bags of corn. Did see 2 young deer a couple of weeks ago and one buck who had one antler, who came up and ate corn from the box. I hear the coyotes at night and down the road yesterday seen one walking in a neighbors field during the morning. Along interstate 44 we seen many deer dead on the shoulder. What a waste in my book. We use to hunt in Illinois at my wife's ex husbands farm, until his new wife found out. Lol!

Are you all allowed to feed the deer? Here in Kentucky, it is legal. My son is a plumber and we cut 5" PVC pipe about 5' long. We put a "V" notch at the bottom. We put a rebar in the ground and put our pipe on it. We fill with corn or horse feed We start in September putting out our corn or horse feed. It usually takes about a week before they start eating it. On my 113-acre farm I have five hunters. This year we took an 11 pointer, an eight pointer, a spike that was thought to be a doe, and two does. Our black powder season starts next week end the 10th and runs a week.
