Richard Clark, Dave The Fishman Rivera, Auto Sound & Security, Car Audio & Electronics, and Wayne Harris. Just a few of the biggest names that got all of us started and inspired to do car audio. Oh, how I used to dream of building cars like this ever since I saw it at the Rockford Fosgate install school. The graphic display in the side windows was ingenious, using basic 12 V side marker lights.
@wayne_harris
@wayne_harris 16 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I think the lights are cool as well. One point of correctness: those aren't marker lights. I fabricated individual light "cells" out of foam core and then glued them in place. What a pain! Essentially, you glue a long "column" strip and then partition that column with individual "dividers." There are 100 cells on each panel. A LOT of work.

This was a great video!!! I was in car audio from about early 90's to the 2008 recession. I was a master installer and managed a shop in South Florida for 9 years. I even worked under Ronnie Nicholson in mid 90's and was close up until his passing. I was a JL rep and still have my 2004 Mercury Marauder that was outfitted with a full buildout system when the car was new. Original Slash amps, three 10's and JL VR components all the way around. I never took it to the Spring Break Nationals in Daytona because I learned the hard way after having my 1995 Taurus SHO used as a staircase. Yep, footprints all over the rear bumper and trunklid. They put us in the Adam's Mark right across from the Ocean Center. I knew some huge folks but never played that card. I worked for and with some GREAT guys in my career. Likely I've met ya - I have never seen the car but you have quite a piece of machinery there!

I have been curating a collection of photos, newspapers, magazines, and videos since 1985 that covers all aspects of car audio, not just my cars. I plan on publishing everything on my website and this KZbin channel. It has been extremely time consuming. Scanning, dubbing, applying AI photo enhancement and video upscaling, etc. Thanks for watching.

Holy smoke, I swear I saw a picture of this car back in the early 90s in something like Autosound & Security or Car Audio and Electronics. Am I remembering that or did I Mandela effect myself 🤣🤣🤣 This was back when I first got into car audio. I sat in a friend's Buick regal with a Rockford Fosgate Power 1000 and a pair of Rockford 12s and it changed my audio listening life forever. So excited to have found this channel and to hear from one of the greats!!

This hearse is part of what made me go crazy over car audio. Those Fane 24” Woofers! And then the original Power1000’s… I remember that it was ORION amps prior to the RF’s. Thanks Wayne for bringing it back to life, I never was able to see it in person, maybe finally I can get that chance 🙏

You are right about power and efficiency. Somewhere along the way we got lazy and just started throwing power at the problem instead of focusing on the acoustical design aspects of the system. I have started speaking on this recently and I plan on conducting a seminar on the topic soon. Thanks for watching.

Simply Amazing. I'm 50 and grew up dreaming of these systems. It was Harris/Fukuda/ SpeakerWorks Clark/Matsubara/Tommy Clark/Kimura/Miller & Waits SPL/Rivera for the water tanks. Would love to see some of those systems recreated and in competition again. Awesome video.

Me too! I'll try to post more video of that in the future. So much effort, but worth every bit. The "controller" is homemade and looks like something out of a mad scientist lab. It has 10 bandpass filters (one per octave), and bar-graph driver IC's that power 100 power transistors, each of which drives the light bulbs. Each bulb draws 200 mA. Each panel pulls 20 Amps. x2 = 40 Amps. Thanks for watching.

Appreciate the effort in making these videos. This is a blast from my past back when the only info on cars like these was the trade magazines. I recall the article on this wich had a lot of black and white images if I recall from the MTX days if memory serves. My home area spawned a few memorable beasts like the All Pro Audio Rolling Thunderr vans and Auto Graphics Yellow Blazer and RF van but unless you had the ability to hit up a national event, print was the only way to "see" beasts like this. Wayne is s superstar in the industry and for him to make these videos is a treat.

@@wayne_harris Had to be a great feeling and very well deserved. Closest thing to that I ever acheived was a below the fold front page photo in our area newspaper and a nomination for "Installer Of The Year" in Installation News from "Rabbit" our regional RF rep and the store owners. You know how those things go though, popularity contest and not a vote on submitted work but in that era having your name in print was still top shelf in the trophy case.

Young folks today just don’t understand what car audio and highly customized vehicles meant to us audio freaks back then. I’m a JL audio sub fan but I absolutely love my Rockford Fosgate amps and I’ll even admit that series of RF subs are freaking awesome and I’d run them any day of the week. I really hope that you’re able to get the car back up 100% even if you have to replace the monitors with LCD/LED screens. Just found your channel and now subscribed!

You can be sure it will be working 100% (or 110%). I am highly motivated and have been waiting for a place to work on the Terminator for decades. BTW... some of the folks at JL were instrumental in building the auto sound industry. Thanks for subscribing.

@ can’t wait to see it again. Remember seeing it years ago in Auto Sound Magazine i believe! It’s one of the reasons I’ve liked JL and RF so much. However I did support other brands such as PPI (Loved their Artist series) for my mids and highs and you can’t forget about Zapco, Alpine and the good old Orion HCCA. Thanks for the reply and I’ll be continuing to watch your uploads. But I do love my JL W6 and W7 series subs. Even have JL’s home audio subs.
