Although terraria is seen as a perfect game to many, including me, one problem I’ve always had with is progression is this exact stage in the game. between plantera to moonlord, there are a ton of weapons that just get outclassed or are not even given a chance to use because of how fast this stage of the game feels. For future updates, I would love it if they maybe changed up the progression like maybe even making empresa of light mandatory or just adding new bosses to lengthen out and “fix” that stage of progression. I feel like this is the only part of the game where there are many issues with balancing all the weapons you can get due to the sheer power of some weapons you can get as long as you make the right moves and grind for the right stuff.

One of the most unusual weapons in Terraria, yet definitely my favorite! It makes the Invasions and Old Ones Army a breeze with Spectre Armor. It's sad to see people still overlook this weapon performance against bosses, but its ideal niche is arguably if not the best at what it does.

First time I saw it, it looked so clunky that I thought it HAD to have autoswing to balance out the negatives, but nope. What a genuinely terrible weapon. The Staff of Earth allows you to easily weaponize a Terrarian's worst nightmare against your foes, so yes, I use it because it's hilarious to hurl boulders at my enemies while shouting "You're bold, but I'm boulder!" at the screen. (Yes, the text in quotation marks in this comment is, in fact, a Cuphead DLC reference, in case you wanted to know.)

My first mage playthrough i actually used this thing for a while, primarily to farm duke for the razorblade typhoon, since duke is rapid anyway and just ran into all the boulders, and it does pretty decent damage (and i didn't have a razorpine/bat scepter) i found it pretty good to use, but was quite happy to retire it for the razorblade typhoon once i got it, oh well, it's still cool lobbing boulders at anything you want 😂😂

I wish this weapon was better, because I really like it… one thing that I have found before with it is that if you stand beside a wall and shoot straight down, the boulders will be caught in the wall, and they will be completely stopped after bouncing between the blocks. Once motionless, they will stay there for ages, and they can be used to block off passages from normal enemies while you are build or anything like that

On my first play through entering hardmode ever, as a mage, I used this staff as my main weapon. Though I replaced it when I got through the post-plantera dungeon, I still hold onto the weapon and definitely haven’t forgot it.

The idea of hurling bouncing boulders is great. The reality is that the damage is simply not comparable to its contemporaries. Any post-Golem loot is the second to last progression step before the final boss. It needs to stand up to anything that can be obtained pre-Cultist and Pillars.... And it just doesn't.

Please review the tempest staff very few people have talked about it. I don't know if it's good or not It's up to you to decide but I do know that relogic buffed the weapon and I genuinely have not seen any summoner go for it even post plantera or post golem for that matter instead they stick strongly to either the sanguine or blade staff(and If you have time then make a comparison video between blade and sanguine staff I would greatly appreciate that)and upgrading to the deadly sphere staff and then to the xeno staff so the tempest is a very forgotten Duke Fishron drop and is worth a mention and If you have read this far then please like the comment so that this petition will reach sockrteez

Honestly, this weapon is very good from a thematic perspective...and it has received repeated buffs. However, I think it's max velocity threshold damage needs to be increased. I think that it should get a new category at 32+ MPH which ups the base damage to a full 200. I also think it should get a secondary fire mode which places a stationary boulder that explodes into 3-5 big pieces of shrapnel after either making direct contact with an enemy, or after 3 seconds. I'd put the base damage of the explosion for this at 80, with each piece of shrapnel doing 60 individually.

Honestly, something they should do is massively buff the golem as well as the cultist, because after defeating plantera, you can go straight to post cultist as those 2 bosses are easier than plantera, completely invalidating other forms of progression post plantera and post golem. I rarely see myself doing any progression after plantera other than going straight for pillar gear, as It's far faster and easier. The Fact that they're instantly accessible, requiring no farming or crafting of summoning item, makes this even worse.

Relogic really needs to add content to this stage of the game, rebalancing weapons here, and beef out things to do instead of rushing straight to Moonlord. Pre-hardmode is nice and padded for leisurely progression thanks to building and semi-slow upgrading. Sad to see that the real meat of the game (hardmode) is basically a boss rush
