Fun fact: a few weeks ago someone found a bug on Steam that allowed the SA2 shoes to be acquired past the promotional window. I didn't get code for the SA2 shoes on time, but thanks to this bug I got them months after the promotion was over.

Digital Deluxe is basically FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) but for full priced games that offer worthless junk as a preorder or special edition bonus. Sure the exclusive cosmetics *sound* cool, but chances are they were already in the game to begin with and all the Digital Deluxe does is activate a line of code that makes them useable without hacks, cheats or mods. I'll admit, I purchased the Digital Deluxe versions of Colors Ultimate and Frontiers. Doesn't stop the former from being a epileptic buggy mess and makes the latter even *easier* to beat unfortunately. But at least I can pretend Eggman needs better glasses whenever Sonic wears the gold/silver gloves and shoes in Colors Ultimate and pretend Sonic's side hobby involves moving lumber or gardening in Frontiers. Still kinda wish SEGA made Super Sonic models for the other costumes, just kinda makes it feel like Super Sonic pulls a Werehog with the outfits. Oh well, that's where the modding community comes in.

I didn't think anything could rival Pokemon BDSP's "hey you can get some berries if you preorder", but good lord that Frontiers deal is just a scam. Art book aside, the jukebox is JUST the first island's tunes, Sonic just gets worse drip (compared to the newsletter which straightup gives him the SA2 shoes; even Superstars's newsletter gives Amy her modern outfit, come on), and to top it off you're given ingame unlockables that boost your progress... in a single-player game that thrives on having a story to tell that is normally locked behind game progression. I'm almost glad I was never aware it was a thing at all.

Fun fact: I bought a digital deluxe editions for MediEvil and Horizon Zero Dawn and I barely read the digital artbooks nor even played the OST on said console! That’s how you know how obsolete most digital deluxe editions are. I now only buy digital deluxe editions if they don’t include anything I find useless, like CTR Nitro-Fueled and Crash Team Rumble. Also Xpool, when’s the Sonic Omens video coming?

The digital deluxe was also removed from the Nintendo eShop and replaced with the Plus bundle. I think it's actually cheaper than the digital deluxe. The Plus Expansion Pack also comes with all the content in the digital deluxe, and you can't buy the new content seperately. I don't know about the other stores, but it's probably the same. It I don't count the Gold Points discount, I payed roughly £48 when I could've got it for around £10 cheaper if I bought it later.
