The more humanoid mushroom cloud eldritch being would definitely shifted him into the uncanny valley; something that's a shade closer to humanoid than reptile, staring down from on high as your doom is sealed, would instill terror in anyone.

I don't know if it's an illusion because of the body shape but this version seems way taller, seeing that guy peeking over the rooftops is menacing. Plus the mushroom cloud shape is very thematic, it is literally a walking nuclear disaster

​@@TitanusFenrir Nothing wrong with analog horror, I just think Godzilla doesn't fit it at all. Godzilla as a franchise is less monster movie horror, and more environmental disaster horror. That's what Godzilla has always represented, he's Robert Oppenheimer's nightmares given physical form. I think analog horror relies on subtlety, and Godzilla has all the subtlety of... well... a 500 foot tall lizard 😂

@@UltimateSpider1385 Shin Godzilla wasn't scary in fact I felt sad for the poor thing because its design was used to represent the dangers of nuclear warfare and how much damage it can cause (the design even looks like the burnt skin and exposed bones and flesh of the zombie people of Hiroshima who walked endlessly until they died of their burns) as for Godzilla -1 mutated it looks like they went for the more "Look I'm a giant scary lizard" design and it and didn't really have an effect on me. Still, I like though but I feel mushroom head godzilla has more of an impending doom fear factor.

I heard about that concept art a long time ago. They throw a tons of ideas for Godzilla design when they first try to create Godzilla. Also for the nickname for Primatus Rex, I would call it "the Synapsida Monster" since it's like a mammal-like reptile.

I will say that I’m more for Godzilla being a horror character but this concept genuinely put a sense of dread in my mind. Specifically that shot of mushroom Godzilla looking right at you, gave me goosebumps. The idea of something that large stopping its destruction and turning its full attention to you. Why not call Primatus Rex Prometheus? The beast does look like it has a fire motif, and Prometheus' story IS on a meta level about the acquisition of knowledge, and the Titan getting punished for his hubris, and defiance of the Gods.

Name suggestion for Primatus. Since he looks like Kong and Godzilla combined, this is the definition of the name I chose. "Any animal resulting from the crossing of different breeds or types". That's the definition for MONGREL. I suggest Primatus Rex new name could be Mongrel.

Even after hearing about this for the first time, I can't believe that this was one of the earlier designs for him and if it was accepted in the first movie, it would've been horrifying and could've change the whole history of Godzilla entirely!! ...Thank goodness that never happened because I would never have liked him in the first place. I feel like the lanky types confuse the brain and the flight or fight response. While the buff badass version is a straightforward "I definitely can't fight that so nope" So the weird unsettling designs have a sorta short circuit affect that'd have you froze trying to make a decision.

Shigeru Kayama mentioned in his book of memoirs that Tanaka told him the monster would be a "sea monster" that would be a "cross between a gorilla and a whale". So you would have to assume the body would've looked completely different.

They did redesign Godzilla closer to the manga-spec: Godzilla's Counterattack / Raids Again. It didn't stay, but has been used for analog horror over the past few years. Arguably the humanoid Gs bursting out of the tail of the frozen ShinG also count.

The mushroom head could work but it would have to be in a movie with a very different mood. It couldn't be lumbering around smashing buildings because it would look goofy. I think it would be best as a cosmic horror story, with the mushroom head simply walking through the cities, gazing down ominously like in that drawing, passively emitting so much radiation that buildings and people just melt around it. An inexorable force of death that destroys by just existing.

These designs of earlier looks of godzilla are pretty creepy but I don't know this mushroom Godzilla just gives me something seen in scp or creepypasta designs or thumbnails but to me shin godzilla is a very terrifying interation of not necessary looking like a mushroom cloud but with his final form showing burned esque like scaring that iteration of the big g is terrifying to me.

You know, I might have a nick name for primatus, how about the gold feathered obsidian or even just call him obsidian. The reason I chose this is because looking at his design, I feel like if he was introduced into the monster verse or something like that I feel like they would make his fur kinda like a shiny gold, and his skin does kinda remind me of obsidian and hardened lava, I don’t know it might sound more like a title then a nickname but I though it sounded cool!
