Down in the woods in Huntsville Texas sits a taqueria that is sure to serve up some delicious authentic mexican food. With an atmosphere to boot, your taste buds are sure to dance.

I am from Canada. I recently visited friends who live near Huntsville. Within hours of getting off the plane, they took me to Carmelita's. What a great experience, perfect food, and lots of it (man, after travelling for 8 hours, I was hungry!). My mouth is watering right now, just from the memory. Thank you to all at Carmelita's. If I could do what they are doing, it is my retirement dream. Gracias amigos!

I grew up in that little community of Phelps, all we ever had was railroad tracks and a stop sign. Now we have the best tauqeria ever !!! ....and railroad tracks and a stop sign. Stop by, the owners are super nice people and EVERYTHING they make is great !

I bought some land down the street from this restaurant and let me tell you. I was surprised and amazed at how good the food was. Like they say, the best food comes from hole in the walls.

Texas is a state of community and love no matter the color you are, and no matter what the news says. Remember a few bad apples can spoil the bunch and give a bad view of a whole people. I’m a native Texan and never EVER heard a true racist speak until I moved up to Washington 20 miles from the Canadian border. Texas is a great place and we all love and respect each other

We missed our turn on our way to the National Park and when we saw this bright green building I had to look it up and see what it was. When we’re traveling we love to eat at hole in the wall, mom and pop style restaurants so we turned around and I’m glad we did. Authentic Mexican food and a family style atmosphere. You can tell most people in there are regulars and I love that! Too bad we live states away bc we’d be one of them too.

That's San Antonio. In Laredo, we had a family of black people working as mechanics in a mexican shop. Those black folks were talking spanglish with that Texan accent. Listening to Country Music. Only in Texas man. I love this place. This is our thing and I hope to God those other people moving to this state don't mess it up for us.

Come visit Huntsville, there are about another dozen taquerias in town. $10 at any of them will more than fill you up. Carmelita is likely the tastiest. But there are others that give it a run for its money. And it is not 10 miles out in the country.
