@@keithcole8536 The Devil's Rejects (and Rob Zombie in general) was HEAVILY inspired by TCM, and in my opinion, Rob Zombie apes elements of this movie in his own movies. A lot of that movie, as well as House of 1000 Corpses, is really just shock and gore for its own sake, and it lacks the kind of raw terror that TCM has. That said, both those movies are awesome and fucked up in the best way haha

Tobe Hooper deliberately toned down the overt blood and gore in the hopes of scoring a PG rating. Instead, he got an X rating. He inadvertently straddled a line that a lot of horror directors struggle with. He made a horror movie that's *genuinely* horrifying.

The KZbin video you are about to see is an account of an infamous horror film which befell a particularly jovial man. It is all the more tragic in that he was fairly squeemish, but even if he'd had nerves of steel, he could not have expected nor would he have wished to see as much of the mad and the macabre as he was to see that day. For him, sitting down with his dogs to watch a movie would become a nightmare. The selection of that movie was in the hands of his fans and viewers. Tonight he would be watching.... the Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Fun facts. 1. The final scene where she is hysterically laugh/scream was 100% real. They had finished filming and the actress though the hell of filming was over , until they called her back for one more shot. 2. Guy playing Franklin had a pay dispute and threatened to walk (or roll?) Off set . So the director cut him his check and he did the scene of him rolling down that hill on the highway with the check in his pocket. 3. Leatherface's actor Gunnar Hansen kept hidden away from his fellow cast so they wouldn't be spoiled for his reveal. The scene where he comes in with the hammer spooked Kirks actor so bad he ran out of the house so fast. 4. During the filming of the dinner scene, it was actually broad daylight outside with no air conditioning inside of the house. This meant that they had to have blackout curtains which only made the house hotter. The temperature inside would sometimes rise to over 120 degrees Fahrenheit and because all of the animal bones and carcasses were real, this intense amount of heat began to make the smell absolutely unbearable. Many of the actors have said that they would go outside and vomit only to come back in and finish recording.

Horror films from the 60's up until the 80's were on another level. There were so many issues with censorship that film makers had to either get super creative in how they approached the movies they made, or they said "to hell with it" and pissed off A LOT of people. Horror isn't for everyone, but it has been invaluable in expanding what is allowed on screen, by by extension allowing other genres more freedom in their storytelling.

As a kid from the '70's I'm allergic to cgi!😅 I remember we'd wait all week for Saturday morning cartoons. They were magical. Then I saw a show on how they were made & ruined cartoons for me. All I could think of after that was some poor artist having to draw picture after picture bhs. I prefer claymation to top cgi, as at least the sets were often real places. Been trying to watch Lord of the Rings so long I got it on vhs!😅 Probably started 20 times & just made it out the tavern!😅 All I see are green screens & multi million dollar actors acting to nothing & kids on computers punching keys! Sucks for me. I just keep going back in time with films. There's planty. Got the best ahead of me! At the very least cgi not only stunted the creative process it cheaply simplified & stagnated it, that is until the next breakthrough in technology adds a few more pixels or some shit?!😅 That said,, wish I could. To each their own! ✌🌎❤

The acting is worse than a middle school stage play. The visuals look like they were assembled by the stage crew from that same middle school. The filming style and picture quality look worse than what us kids could produce with my uncle's first generation camcorder at home in the 80s. Today the movie barely makes an okay B roll comedy, but that's the best that can be realistically said about it.

As a Kid I was terrified of Freddy Kruger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and especially Chucky. I was forced to watch these movies with my Cousins while my parents were out, then I got use to Horror films. Here's the shocking part, I willingly watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre when I was 12 on AMC, got terrified during the whole Dinner scene. When I brought this up to my folks, even my cousins were like, "What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Apparently, even they were scared of the Movie, and I got those assholes back. Now it's one of my favorite horror films that still scares me. Especially the Leatherface showing up to kill Franklin scene, because it was dark and that chainsaw was an instant start. The Dinner scene I'm fine with, but that Jump scare still gets me. When they said it's based on a true story, what they really mean it took inspiration from the Ed Gein murders in Plainfield, Wisconsin, where he stole corpses from cemeteries, made furniture out of human remains, and skinned women to make a woman suit. Actually, a lot of Horror films were based on the Gein murders, now that I think about. Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Silence of the Lambs are the movies that come to mind.

@@nsasupporter7557 Yeah, I had a fear of dolls. Especially porcelain. Think about it, a Doll that pretends to be a Doll, then it comes to life. Also, it doesn't help that my cousins scared with one of those My Buddy Dolls, by making me think it was alive. Though now, I love the Child Play series. I'm not that boy anymore, now I obsessed with Horror. All the things that used to scare me, I adore them.
